On February 18, 2012 at approximately 1:45 a.m., Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division responded to The Rebel located at 718 River Road in Washington, NC in reference to a weapons offense.
On December 18, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Animal Cruelty at a home on Big Buck Drive in Chocowinity, NC. Animal Control Officers and Deputies responded to the scene and located a deceased boxer mix canine tied to the back porch area of a home.
On February 10, 2012, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Brandon James Burbage, age 20, of 73 Robert Cox Rd. Bath and Lora Rowe Beacham, age 30, of 3195 99 S Belhaven.
On February 15, 2012, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit along with Officers with the North Carolina Division of Community Corrections arrested Allen Garfield Swanner Jr.
A search of the vehicle and its occupants revealed 28 grams of marijuana located in several plastic baggies packaged for resale, a set of digital scales, $700.00 in cash and 10 grams of crack-cocaine and powder cocaine mixture.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
Sgt. Sheppard applied for and obtained warrants charging David Lee Williams Jr., age 41, of South Pitt Street in Greenville, NC and Rexter Pierre Williams, age 42, of Dean Drive in Washington, NC with one count each of Felony Breaking or Entering Coin/Currency Machine.

Quierra Ross Receives Award at All-District Band Competition Congratulations to Quierra Ross for her success in the All-District band competition on Saturday, January 20th.
On Wednesday, January 25, 2012, P. S. Jones held its annual school spelling bee. All contestants were already winners, because they had not only won their own classroom bees, but had spelled off against their teacher’s winners from other class periods.
P.S. Jones Middle School received recognition as an Exemplar School for the 2010-2011 school year.
On April 4, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny of copper from the Voice of America site in Washington, NC.
A class of sixth grade Financial Literacy students at PS Jones Middle School delivered a check and food supplies to our local animal shelter on Friday, January 20.
On February 1, 2012, members of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested Carlton Deshawn Rome, age 36, of 341 Lee St. Belhaven and Ella Lawanda Williams, age 35, of 341 Lee St. Belhaven.
Jamya Moore, a seventh grader at Chocowinity Middle School, was chosen as a 2011 Victor E. Bell, Jr. Scholarship recipient.
John Small students participated in the annual Spelling Bee Friday, January 13, 2012. Two contestants were chosen from each homeroom and then competed against the other contestants in their respective grades.
As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to the Magistrate’s Office. Lawrence Mel Tetterton, age 25, of Highway 33 East in Aurora, NC was charged with Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Investigators identified the suspect as a registered sex offender and discovered he was not living at his registered address. Investigators also discovered the home where the suspect was living was less than one thousand feet from an elementary school in Chocowinity.
The subject then left the property traveling at a high rate of speed in a reckless manner on Highway 32. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued south on Highway 32 at speeds estimated near 100 miles per hour.
On December 20th during the early morning hours the man in the attached photo is believed to have used a financial transaction card to make several fraudulent purchases.
On January 15, 2012, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering at a home on Old Blounts Creek Road in Chocowinity, NC.
Today at 8:15am Washington Police, Fire and EMS responded to P. S. Jones Middle School due to a small fire in one of the restrooms.
After learning of three active Order for Arrests on Grand Jury Indictments, Sgt. Moore arrested the driver, Mitchell Alando StClair Jr., age 37, of Sharon Court in Washington, NC.
Readers will recall that when the Republican-controlled Legislature was working on the budget for this year there went up a huge hue and cry from the education community, the union reps and Governor Perdue that the public schools were being devastated by the cuts the Legislature was making.
Thursday night around 10:30 pm Washington Police arrested Kevin Michael Brown, age 21 of Pollock Street, New Bern, and Michael Wayne Stocks, age 22 of Windley Rd., Washington.
