Representative Cook to hold Town Hall meeting in his district | Eastern North Carolina Now

Any North Carolina District 6 resident, with a social or political concern, can rest assured that they will be granted some face time with their representative to the N.C. General Assembly this Thursday. District 6 is comprised of Beaufort County and northeastern Pitt County.

Newly elected N.C. Representative Bill Cook will be visiting his home county of Beaufort, to hold a Town Hall meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Superior Courtroom of the Beaufort County Courthouse, located at 121 W. 3rd Street in Washington.

The public is invited to attend, regardless of partisan persuasion. The press will also be invited to the meeting.

At the Town Hall meeting, Cook will relate the current happenings in the General Assembly from his vantage point, and then the floor will be open for questions and comments. The meeting will focus on issues and items of concern related to the state legislature. It will not be necessary to sign up to speak, but speakers will be asked to identify themselves.

"I look forward to meeting with constituents of the Sixth District on April 21," said Cook. "While I have attended many meetings around the district, I am especially happy to host this Town Hall-style meeting. I'll try to brief people attending on what has been going on in Raleigh, but I am even more interested in listening. I hope people will come out and help us do a better job of representing them by expressing their ideas, comments and particularly their suggestions.

"Our state is facing some critical decisions, especially with regard to the budget. While it is natural for everyone to want to preserve their particular interest, we are at a point where we need as many suggestions for how we can hold down the cost of government as we can get. I hope we will get some good suggestions along these lines on the 21st."

Other politicians, who choose to attend, will be recognized and offered an opportunity to make comments and/or respond to questions.
