Just five days ago, Beaufort County Now published a former local artist's request for artistic statements proclaiming the necessity of art. The artist, Amy Scheidegger, who now resides in Philadelphia, plans to compile the submissions into a book of 'artistic rebuttals' to those who seek to minimize art's significance. Already, as of yesterday, Scheidegger has confirmed 101 participants, and even received a few submissions.
