Your lack of self awareness is stunning.

Washingtonian: In my 27 years on the county commission, I have never seen this level of acrimony this high toward those of us who diligently work to be honest, as well as wise as we who serve the public to the best of our capacity, while remaining true to our own personal ideals; those governing ideals we espouse to the public when we run for office, when we politicians give the public, the electorate, that opportunity in each election to vote us in, or vote us out as their representatives.

Maybe, if the Center-Coalition Members, who are, incredibly, registered as "Republicans" could just exhibit a modicum of honesty and smidge of wisdom, it would not be this way ... and if that fantastical hope was the case, I would almost guarantee, there would be NO Center-Left Coalition, that bipartisan grouping of like minded, like voting politicians, who abjectly swap votes to share power here on the Beaufort County Commission, as YOUR governing majority.

Locally, our city and county govts are run with a Mafia style heavy hand.
"It would be a pity if you lost your job & then your kids werent able to attend that elite private school." The intended message is heard.

IN the City of Washington, the City Manager does all the hiring and firing...and likely knows where all the bodies are buried within the Council. Its pay to play. Paying with your personal honor is the price. Even the "good" people look the other way.

The three that voted against it were the two with wives on the School Board and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners.

Steve: I am in favor of any election method that will simultaneously give the People greater representation, by greater choice (by elections); and, elect me smarter county commissioners to serve with; better representatives for the People of Beaufort County.

Big Bob: Why did the Idiot President leave those astronauts up there in the first place?

Oh, I remember now, Corrupt President Biden is an idiot.

Little Bobbie is whining about the $40 million that Space X is getting paid to rescue the lost in space astronauts who Biden has left stranded for months on the International Space Station. Space X seems to be the only ones capable of retrieving them. Does Little Bobbie propose that they just be left to die in space?

Jack - the "limited voting" system used for the county commission has always made that body unaccountable and unresponsive. A normal election plan, like real at-large plan with full voting rights or districts or some combination would solve that problem. As long as we have "limited voting" the politicians on the county commission know they do not have to listen to the voters.

Musk just got 40 million from the government for space X. So that’s fun, considering the new Republican budget adds 4 trillion to the deficit.

Inflation -up
Cost of everything -up
No amount of kill the trannies is worth it.

This is just the outrage of the week. Extremism requires you to be constantly pissed off lest you realize you’re being played.

This became an ethics issue with the lock step voting of these four people to violate the general statutes that require certain things to be done to close schools and allow public participation in the process of providing educational services.

Sounds good, an outside opinion is a valuable resource. What did the attorney say?

Did the voting community of Washington not vote in the members of both boards that you seem to have such an issue with? I seem to remember that the husband/wife members you are speaking of were just part of the ballot and they were reelected. If this was such an issue, should this have not been looked at prior to the election? I had been following the page for a while, but it seems that recently it is just targeted attacks at certain individuals.

Washingtonian: Former Speaker Non Patriot Pelosi is both corrupt and stupid, and has made hundreds of millions of dollars off insider trading, a criminal act that puts the regular folk in federal prison.

Instead, there are hedge funds built around her trading activity born from her primary job as the former Non patriot Speaker of the House.

I'm always hearing about Pelosi, and other Democrats who became Billionaire$ while being lifelong public servants. I wonder how that info is obtained.

Can someone tell me how I could research how wealthy our local Govt officials and employees have become while working with the City and County?

BCC: Yep. I'm just wondering why the 3 voted against it.

BCCitizen: Which board are you writing about; When did that board ratify that issue?

And, when will I get my copy?

If you are speaking specifically about the Ethics Opinion, Jerry Langley broke with the Center-Left Coalition, comprised of two Democratic Socialists and two RINOs.

Van Zant: I have some ideas why Democratic Socialist Booth voted against it; and why RINOs Waters and Walker voted against transparency in ethics.

Van Zant and Will, the board voted to PASS the request to get the attorney to render an opinion.

Washingtonian: The one thing equal to a lying politician is an incompetent politician.

I am currently in a meeting, a meeting that is being filmed, and the Superintendent did attempt to goad me into a fight, which did not happen because I only fight when I decide to.

I did, however, request the "Title Search," with all the notes available, and he said he would run it by board.

I thanked him for that consideration, and then I explained the finer points of self-governing constituency, who owns what; who has access to what ... that kind of thing.

Going forward, it will be important for me to receive this and all other requests from all publicly funded agencies and governing boards.

Regarding Van Zant's comments on local govt: "business as usual."

Local Govt's motto should be: "Ask me know questions and I'll tell you no lies."

Recently overheard:
Politician: What would you like to hear today? I’ll tell you anything.
Me: How about the truth for a change.
Politician: Oh hell no! Anything but that.
Me: How does that song go... “tell me lies. Tell me sweet little lies."

Voting not to even hear a legal opinion on the matter says right much. An opinion on a conflict-of-interest matter just might get in the way of business as usual. On BC Boards business as usual appears to be the primary concern.
Commented: Tuesday, February 11th, 2025 @ 7:18 am By: Van Zant
They voted against simply hearing the opinion of an attorney on the matter?

That should tell you all you need to know

It is very important to forward this information to your email contacts. Not everyone keeps up with what is happening in our local school system. Even though we are turning out students that have very low abilities in math and reading, few people seem to know this.

Do Eastern Carolina residents really want California style school consolidations, and do Eastern Carolina residents really favor California style ethics? I'll wager that most of our reps really do not want to know.
