"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't It:" Part V | Eastern North Carolina Now

This underwater remnant of the many fallen trees is the rule, not the exception, along the shore of Goose Creek State Park: Above. How long before this fallen pine becomes a submerged obstacle just below the water's surface: Below.

The jagged beauty of the ragged shoreline backlit by the Autumn sun: Above. Along the walk of Huckleberry Trail, there is quite a canopy above, and therefore a number of fungus on the tree stumps grow unabated: Below.

The natural decay of this red oak aids in nature's continuous renewal as it lies at the base of yet another huge live oak along Live Oak Trail: Above. The long shadows of this spreading live oak, with the backdrop of the Pamlico River, is one of the many beautiful sights of this fine Autumn day: Below.

One more live oak, holding down the sandy bank of the Pamlico, is backlit by the low sun of this Autumn afternoon.
