"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't It:" Massanutten Mountains | Eastern North Carolina Now

Along the few streets in New Market are these renovated, retrofitted buildings that serve the public - this former public school building is now a community center: Above. This former private residence with the picturesque Massanutten Mountains at its back door is now a bed and breakfast: Below.

The north side of the Massanutten peak in the early morning will soon play host to skiers, snowboarders and tubers: Above and below:

The road rules for snow tubers are: First you wait and then you ride: Above and below.

Massanutten is a first class resort for regular folks, and not too far away for all of us that hate to stray too far from home here in the Southeast. And as of late, with all this "global warming" scare all the rage, they are getting more natural snow and with the nights so cold of late, they are always making snow, so the wait is not so bad and the ride is oh-so-good: Above and below.

A trip to the Shenandoah Valley - in all the seasons - holds many rewarding possibilities for the avid adventurist, who understands and appreciates one's place in the ever evolving historical context of this ancient valley. It is good to learn something of oneself, while learning about those who set the stage for our lives in their decades and centuries past. The Shenandoah Valley offers this and much more, depending on who you are ... but first you have to go there.
