Power Sharing, the Root of Today's Political Sin | Eastern North Carolina Now

If you are interested in what is really going on in Beaufort County Government, watch "The Meeting after the Meeting", where Commissioners Hood Richardson and Stan Deatherage provide their Conservative take on how government should be administered here in Beaufort County and beyond.

When we are in the heat of political battle many of us may have difficulty in identifying the enemy. We see many political warriors. Republicans easily identify Democrats and vice versa. Since the end of the Reagan terms of office and beginning with the George Bush administration there have been many political puzzles.

The Bush Family did many political things that I thought odd. Like, George, the elder, saying "No new taxes" and then agreeing to raise taxes shortly after being sworn in. This family's spotted political history has now come to an end with their open and public refusal to support Donald J. Trump for President this year. They did other things like supporting open borders and citizenship for anyone who could cross the border with Mexico. Were these people ever Republicans? They were never conservative Republicans.

Ever wonder what John McCain was doing in the Republican Party?. He landed just far enough inside the Republican position, on every issue, to be a Republican. Definitely not a rock ribbed Republican. He was always being justified with an adjective such as "left of center", "reaching across the aisle", "liberal Republican" etc. These descriptive words tell us we are not dealing with the real thing. It was John McCain who submitted the Trump dossier to the FBI and requested an investigation. Political idiot that he was, he did not realize that the very people he was asking to investigate it were the same people who invented it. McCain in the end was not even a useful idiot.

Then there is Mitt Romney, presidential candidate. He did a terrible job of campaigning because he thought it was the Republican's turn to be president and he had been anointed by the Republican Party. At best he is a poor looser and back stabber.

Since Reagan, thru the Bushes, Clinton and Obama things have gone rather well with the Democrats getting mostly what they wanted and the Republicans providing enough opposition to look like a political party. These people could work with each other, across the aisle. It really was not bare knuckle politics or even competitive politics.

Then came Trump. Why did everyone hate him except the American people? Because Trump is a heavy hitter. He knew power sharing when he saw it. He knew the Republicans and the Democrats were as phoney an act as any professional wrestling match. They made each other look good and they rehearsed their moves.

Because of power sharing , the American people were slowly being bled to death. Our wealth was being given away and sent out of the country. We were losing our freedoms. The Constitution was rapidly becoming a piece of paper. If Trump were re elected a lot of Democrats and I believe a lot of Republicans were going to prison.

We have the same kind of power sharing right here in the Beaufort County Government. We have two Democrats and two Republicans sharing power. Three conservative Republicans, Stan

Deatherage, Randy Walker and myself are not members of the gang of four who run Beaufort County.

This brings us back to political parties.

Why was the entire effort of the Beaufort County Republican Party Executive Committee directed toward electing John Rebholz during the 2020 campaign? Because none of the other Republican candidates were into deal making with Democrats. If Rebholz lost there would be no more power sharing in Beaufort County. Liberal Republicans and Democrat Fifth Columnists (Democrats who run as Republicans) would have no where to go.

The entire effort of the yellow sheeters who run the Beaufort County Republican party was directed to electing Rebholz. The Republican Party secretly made their six thousand person email list available to Rebholz. But not to the rest of us. They worked on fund raisers for Rebholz. They manned the headquarters and directed all who would listen that Rebholz was the Party candidate. They refused to put up signs at the poling places for any commissioner other than Rebholz.

Conservative Republicans, Tandy Dunn, Randy Walker and Hood Richardson were on our own. We never received communications from the party about events or anything that would help us or at least keep the playing field level with Rebholz.

Back to political parties. Unless the rank and file are willing to step forward and participate in precinct meeting and the County Convention, we can expect the yellow sheet Republicans to continue to use the republican party machinery to elect their liberal and submissive candidates.

Neither the Republican State Party nor the Beaufort County Party support the broad base of

Republicans running for office. Yes, there will always be liberal and conservatives in any party. The rank and file, the every day citizen should be picking the winners and losers, not the yellow sheeters and liberals who step forward to hold positions within the party. This is why I recommend donations be made directly to a candidate and not the Party.

You have an opportunity to make a great change in Beaufort County. In order to have a saying in party politics you must attend the precinct meeting and become a delegate to the County Convention. These precinct meetings and the County Convention are usually held during the first quarter of odd numbered years. Don't allow the yellow sheeters to defeat your conservative and fair minded principles. Participate in the process. The little man is in control, if only he will show up.

The Hood did say "Study the list. Draw your own conclusions."

I, personally, try not to write about the local Republican party ... unless it one day becomes of a benefit to Conservatives.

Are you stating Keith Kidwell is part of this faction?
