Yesterday was black day for NC politics. The most important energy/environmental bill of the year (H298) received a setback in the Utility Committee hearing -- when 18 legislators (6 Rs + 12 Ds) voted against the Affordable and Reliable Energy Act!

At this point there aren't adequate safeguards for ANY of these groups. I have formally contacted top level DENR and DHHS people of the serious deficiencies, so it is now up to them to step up. Hopefully they will.

At today's hearing on H484 at the Environmental Committee, the bill was passed (I don't yet have the specific vote tally as to who voted for or against).
