I first heard about John Rhodes in 2003 while he was serving in the North Carolina House. He was raising questions about the ethics of Democrat House speaker Jim Black and his Republican co-conspirator co-speaker Richard Morgan.

Moore County's Richard Morgan has evolved into one of the most polarizing figures ever in North Carolina politics. Amazingly, during his time in the NC General Assembly, he was able to earn an equal amount of emnity from conservatives AND liberals.

Moore County's Richard Morgan set the standard for hard-nosed vindictive political tactics during his tenure in the NC House. If a legislator dared to "cross" him, Morgan would personally seek out a primary challenger for said legislator.

Think back to 2006 with me. We had a conservative firebrand GOP legislator, representing a district near Charlotte, who was making headlines by criticizing the leadership of the state House (at the time, Democrat Jim Black and "Republican" Richard Morgan).
