Commented On 5 Nordic countries suspend use of Moderna vaccine
And what is more, they want to ignore "natural immunity." Also, it seems they are still continuing to ignore therapeutics such as Ivermectin, which is cheap, effective and does come in doses specifically for human consumption. And yes, hydroxychloroquine; also cheap, effective when used early after onset of infection, and comes in human dosages.
Both are proven effective, non-toxic and already available. Think about this: I believe the ones pushing all this panic stuff are the ones who are getting rich from pushing the vaccines. And if any of them don't have their hand in the till, they're scrambling for political power by keeping (many) of the people scared out of common sense. |

Commented On The day the Democrats Putinized America
From the article: "Voting for Trump is not a moral option. It is a matter of civic duty. It is an act of democratic defiance against a political system that has become dangerously, structurally, morally corrupt."
I agree. My wife agrees. (She was the first Trump believer in the family) When the illicit "verdict" was handed down, my wife asked me to go online and find us a TRUMP flag. When the flag arrived this week, I brought down our American flag and hoisted the new TRUMP flag. "TRUMP 2024 Save America Again!" Don't confuse my intentions with those who wish to destroy America. I think the America I believe in is in great peril. I served America in the U.S. Army. I believe in America. I think America is the greatest country in the world. Well . . . I did . . . until first Barack Obama and now Joe Biden (under Obama's puppeteer control) took the reins of this once great nation. Folks, the 2024 election is critically important. After his first term, TRUMP now knows who the snakes are (certainly including RINOs), he knows how they operate, and he knows where they hide. He just needs to finish the job and flush them out for all to see. God Bless America and God Bless Donald J. Trump! JMan |

Commented On NC's Green New Deal – the anatomy of a betrayal
Mr Steed:
TY for your concerns and good commentary. FYI, prior to HB951 being voted on, I wrote up a detailed Critique of it, and emailed it to every NC Republican legislator. Here is the url . Some Republican legislators stood up to their leadership (e.g. Larry Pittman, George Cleveland, etc.). However, despite my attempt to get citizens to speak to their representatives about this, not enough did. For more info, please send me an email at "aaprjohn" at "northnet" dot "org". |

Commented On Republican Purge
Mr. Fucito you seem to have spent a lot of effort explaining why things talked about in a recess dont go into a set of minutes. That all seems logical. What I dont see you explaining is why there was so much effort involved to avoid a meeting or reconvening one. Seems like that WOULD require minutes and nobody wanted the ouster of Unca Hood and the other two ladies to be on record much less that the police were called. If something isnt rotten enough to pass the smell test there usually isnt a need to try to keep it in the dark.

Commented On Pete Hegseth Celebrates The U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday: ‘There Is No 1776 Without 1775’
Giving the Army a grand 250th birthday celebration was the right move. It is important to remind the people of this nation (99% who have not served themselves since the creation of the all volunteer military) what it takes to give us the freedoms we enjoy. This is more important given all of the things happening with China, Iran, Russia, North Korea and more. Hegseth served low enough in the ranks not to be corrupted by the bureaucratic and political issues that have been detrimental to the military over the past 20-30 years. His leadership and vision to bring back the focus on lethality and the warrior ethos within our armed forces is vital and necessary. The sharp increase in recruitment since Trump was reelected is a clear demonstration that the people who serve and protect America, many who come from multiple generations of veterans, didnt agree with the Biden/Obama eras of DEI and mismanagement in DoD.

Commented On What does it mean to be a Conservative?
Wasn't our nation started because We the People opposed an actual King? Were we not opposed to taxation without representation? Did we not fight back when those who would oppress us came for our firearms, the AR-15s of the day, at Lexington and Concord? Don't our founding documents lay out a limited federal government so that the sovereign states could represent their people according to what they believed best? People shouldn't fear their government, governments should fear their people. They do work for us after all, not the other way around. Its sad to many people don't realize this or remember it. Its a travesty the bureaucrats and seemingly more often the judiciary don't understand this either.

Commented On Would Jesus Carry a Gun??? Part I
Your last comment sums up quite well what I make of it. Jesus was no coward, when the time was appropriate, He used violence in righteousness. Then, again when the time called for it, He was compassionate and spoke against unnecessary violence. The only complexity of the issue is when to use use violence righteously, and when to avoid it. If violence was immoral in and of itself, and the weapons of violence also, we would not have Law Enforcement, the Military, or any other defense against physical evil; so long as we desired to be moral people. The question is less "would Jesus carry a gun," and more "when would righteous men use a gun."

Commented On Would Jesus Carry a Gun??? Part I
Gene, what you are trying to accomplish is shaming people into not defending themselves from harm by holding them to an impossible standard. Jesus did not have to "stoop" to carrying a gun (Thanks Mr. Deatherage, for joining the shaming) because He was the Son of God. The rest of us are mere mortals living in an evil world, in the world but not of it. I encourage you again to take a look at www.biblicalselfdefense.com.

Commented On Would Jesus Carry a Gun??? Part I
Thankyou, Gene. I know we all, well most of us, want to live in a safe world where morality and reason guide the actions of young men, but that world does not exist. If our world today is The Wild West, with mothers hanging long-irons on their hips, it is the criminals that make it that way, not those who would protect themselves from crime.
An openly carried gun certainly gets attention, but that is the point. A concealed weapon may be used to protect oneself once a crime has been initiated, but an openly visible gun may prevent the crime entirely. I think it's good that she kept a 'clean' appearance while carrying. This helps set a good impression of 'responsible gun owner' instead of 'gun rights nut militia-psycho.' When I see someone in torn jeans, with an untucked t-shirt spouting needlessly aggressive patriotism, and a scowl as mean as the handgun strapped into their 'tacti-cool' thigh holster, I immediately think 'Danger, hothead, avoid.' However, someone in slacks with a collared shirt, a clean haircut and a recently shaved or trimmed beard makes me think of them as law abiding and 'socially acceptable,' even with their gun in full view. Image matters a lot with open carry, I believe. As for Jesus, I won't parse scripture, but He did command his apostles to arm themselves. Why would he do that if he believed that defense wasn't necessary? He argues against Paul's cutting off the Roman soldier's ear because He knew that what was going to happen had to happen. Paul acted when he should have accepted. Check out www.biblicalselfdefense.com where people far wiser than I explain the Biblical foundations of personal self defense. |

Commented On Voter Fraud
Much of this great country is currently embroiled in the Voter Photo-ID question, an issue that could easily decide the results of a close election. I grew up believing that the United States was founded on certain principles that set it apart from the rest of the nations of the world. In addition to our basic rights, two of these principles stand out above the rest. The first of these tenets i...s that a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and the second is the right of all citizens to vote in free elections.
It has often been said that it is better to let 1,000 guilty parties go free than convict a single innocent person. Using the same premise with regard to elections, isn't it better to allow a dozen voters without IDs to cast ballots than to deny even a single person who is otherwise entitled to vote? If we are to err on this issue it should be on the side of over-inclusion, and not unjust exclusion. |

Commented On Primary “Elections” Importance
Washingtonian's "hope and change" pitch for Armstrong tries to present him as "new" to politics, but Armstrong is NOT. Not too long ago, Armstrong was a registered Democrat in Hyde County, and he did engage in politics there, DEMOCERAT politics. Armstrong was a Marc Basnight Democrat, and wrote big 4 figure checks to Basnight.
It tells you a lot about Armstrong's political ideology that he has never given a nickel to a Republican legislator or legislative candidate but he had no problem writing a big check to Marc Bashight, a notorious liberal power bully. Armstrong may be new to Republican politics but he is not new to politics generally. He is a warmed over Basnight Democrat trying to reinvent himself as a Republican. No wonder Armstrong does not want to talk about issues. No wonder Washingtonian cannot identify one single issue on which she can try to claim Armstrong has a better, more conservative position than Kidwell. We have too many useful idiots for the left and the RINOs who ignore real issues and vote on silly personality matters instead. WE have a conservative Republican with a proven and very solid conservative voting record representing us in Raleigh. Why in the world would we want to replace him with a warmed over Bashight Democrat who was recruited by the RINOs? Serious voters vote on policy and issues, not get their panties in a twist over personalities. |

Commented On Primary “Elections” Importance
Still can't come up with a single ISSUE you think Armstrong is better on than Kidwell, JV???? That "Christian Zionist" thing did not work any better than MTG's "Jewish Space Lasers".
You and those like you here can only whine about personality and your own hatreds. Most of us are more interested in the issues and policy legislative candidates will push in Raleigh. I see that Washingtonian also cannot seem to come up with a single genuine issue, but just keeps plddling along with that Obama-style "Hope and Change" message. Lets look at a few issues. The only policy issue Armstrong mentioned in his announcement was "2nd Amendment" but on the campaign trail, he says he is "pro Second Amendment but not as much as Kidwell". What does that really mean? His three special guests at his fundraiser were opponents of gun rights. Frankie Waters dumped on concealed carry for county employees. Steve Traxler is so hated by gun rights people that the leading state level gun rights group endorsed the Libertarian against him in the last election. Jimmy Dixon is the man who killed Constitutional Carry in last year's legislative session. Armstrong is clearly someone we cannot trust on this issue. Kidwell, on the other hand is one of the strongest voices for gun rights in the legislature. Or take Shrimpgate, Phil Berger's attempt to destroy our NC shrimp industry to pander to an environmaentalist special interest, the CCA which dangled dollars in front of him. Armstrong has made noises about supporting the shrimpers, and tried to get a shrimper to take him out on the water for a photo op. The shrimper declined because he was running against Kidwell who was one of two key players in saving the shrimp industry from Berger. Armstrong had to settle for taking a picture on land with some shrimp boats in the background. Now, commercial fishermen have become aware that Armstrong was seen in Greenville, out of the district, trying to solicit support and probably money from a key leader of the CCA, the group that is trying to put the shrimpers and other commercial fishermen out of business. How two faced can a politician get? Kidwell laid out where he stood on the issues when he was first elected, and he has honored his promises. That is the sort of elected official we need. Armstrong doesn't tell you where he stands on much, and when he does, he appears to be speaking with a forked tongue. Again, I invite you to discuss real ISSUES, not some gibberish about 5D chess and various "guards". |

WE get it, JV. You vote on personality, not issues. Could you name one actual ISSUE where you think Armstrong'a position is better than Kidwell's???? One actual ISSUE???? Not personality, ISSUE.
You sound like those who refused to vote for Trump due to his personality, even though they agreed with him on the issues. People thinking that way gave us Biden. Were you one of them? |

Commented On You can change this
This is a rather slanted view of what actually happened at this school board meeting. Yes, there were lots of folks there and that was refreshing. NO there has been no attempt by the school board to adopt the aforementioned curriculum. It is only one of 28 curricular that the board has investigated. Some members of the board even intimated that they would not adopt this curriculum. It is unfortunate that some members of the board can't get their facts straight and talk more than they listen. You can't learn anything with your mouth wide open. It is also dubious that the 3 R's alone will do anything to turn this society around. The only thing that will is a Classical Education rooted in the truth.

Commented On The Problems With America’s Public Schools
Great article Diane. However, we have eliminated the in depth study of the arts (Dance, music and the visual arts) to our great detriment especially with young children who thrive when info is delivered with the aid of the arts. Ask anyone who has been a musician how their math skills are. Ask any visual artist how their human skills have been improved. I recommend that every parent, teacher and administrator read " This is your brain on Music". We must remember that that the second greatest collection of dance, music and the visual arts is only surpassed by the written word. This collection of arts is the product of genius and children need to be put in touch with it. Did you know that MIT has a concert Band and a Jazz Band?
