Thank you for your input. It is always a pleasure to hear from any concerned citizen about our town. Our organization is made up of volunteers, who like yourself want to see a better Washington in the future. I can’t speak for the City of Washington but would like to clarify this issue. I believe most of the roads you mentioned are state roads (except for Hackney). Funds for road improvements would be done by NCDOT. I would suggest you address your concerns with them too. I worked full time way while in college. I did use the NDSL but paid it back in full. My degree was in Business Admin and Accounting. You can make a living with this degree.

As an early childhood advocate, I have really not done the research I should have done. When a pre-K program was started and I was in charge, it was suggested that the first enrolled students be followed through graduation. Of course that was never done. I appreciate people who have done the research and have determined that by 3rd grade there is no significant improvement in the Pre-K students. I do think it gives the underprivileged children a good start they would not get in their homes. But is worth the cost. Maybe people who are pushing this should do a lot of research. What is the answer for those who cannot afford daycare or private Pre-k?

I don't believe these illegals should be given anything. We have to work every day to get what we have and yes pay taxes which I'm sure they are not doing. God forbid a family that is LEGAL needs help with food... they get turned down but these illegals are getting hundreds of dollars a month and the spouses are making bank but not reporting it
