If we vote the way we have always voted we will get the kind of government we have always gotten

You lefties have your panties in a twist because Trump and Vance visited Arlington to honor the American troops killed in the Biden-Harris botched Afghanistan withdrawal on the annivversary of their death. Biden and Harris not only refused to even recognize that anniversary, but both have lied by falsely claiming no Americans were killed in military operations on their watch.

MAGA can’t even visit Arlington National Cemetery without getting into a fight.

MAGA can’t govern. Vote republican.

Mr. Rader - I too have seen a fair number of board situations, and I've not seen anything like this. My take on it is this is what you get when a very weak board hires an authoritarian superintendent. I think it is interesting that the three newest members are being treated this way as their welcome to the board. I know a little about some of the members and not so much about some of the others. I do know enough about the three newest members to know they are all over-qualified for this position, so they have got to know how weird this is.

Van Zant - The seating arrangement of the BC School Board has also always struck me as very odd. It is not only totally different from other local government bodies, but also from the state boards and commissions I used to work with. When I served as a departmental General Counsel in the Jim Martin administration, one of my responsibilities was to monitor the rulemaking boards and commissions housed under our department such as the NC Social Services Commission, NC Child Daycare Commission, and NC Mental Health Commission for the cabinet secretary who administered the department. Those sommissions were staffed by top officials of the division or section handling the appropriate policy area. Staff, including division directors or section chiefs were not seated with the commission itself, but down the side, much like many of our local governments. Seating paid staff among board or commission members is just strange.

Js-on the cover page of the BO it advertises “ Keep MAGA Alive….”
Stan runs the BO. 95% of the posters support DT and the MAGA agenda.

It’s really not that hard to figure out.

HR-undoubtedly one of the most uneducated assessments of our educational system I’ve read.
Teaching actual American history isn’t why many American kids are stupid. Blaming spoiled lazy people who couldn’t be bothered to read a book on that fact white people often treat people of color like sh^t is the most racist garbage you ever posted.

MAGA- fact free, vote republican!

Even the inventor of the 1619 Project has admitted it is NOT real history. Only total boneheads like Bigot Bob think it is. And like his usual racist stance he wants to make everything about race. Bigot Bob is our local Al Sharpton.

Stan, he throws around those terms "MAGA" and "weird" because that's what his far left talking points instruct him to do.

Little Bobbie displays yet again how utterly ignorant he is. All public bodies have seating charts, whether it is congress, state legislature, county commission, school board, or whatever. Sometimes the bodies vote on them, but more often they are assigned by the presiding officer.

What is really weird about the Beaufort County School Board is that they seat their top bureaucrat up with the elected members, so Cheeseman can be the big cheese and whisper in board chairman T.W. Allen's ear, telling him what to do. You don't see the county manager sitting up their with the elected members of the county commission or the city manager sitting up there with the elected Washington City Council. Cheeseman thinks he is really special, and our rubber stamp school board majority seems to think so, too.

Big Bob: You keep referring to "MAGA" like you can't think.

Are you throwing the acronym, "MAGA," around so that you might appeal to others who cannot think?
Commented: Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 @ 8:11 am By: Stan Deatherage
Will, what you linked to was the second draft by conservative school board members, not the final Cheeseman draft. The final Cheeseman draft took OUT those things you mentioned.

Big Bob: Since you do not know, MAGA is not involved in school board matters.

We need to vote on where to sit? Just proves what I’ve been saying. MAGA- they can’t govern

The seating arrangements for the Beaufort County Schools could be easily taken care of by a simple vote of the school board members, and should become an issue to do so simply because there is absolutely no logic in the seating arrangement being practiced now by the school board members.

The logic is akin to building a 52,000,000.00 building on the lowest point of a sprawling piece of ground, where, in fact, far higher ground is available.

Let’s see, so HR is quick to point out democrats were the party of the KKK and the likes, and he was a democrat?

Just proves what I’ve been saying. After 1964, the racist democrats left the party and took over the Republican Party. And MAGA was born

The 8.20.24 meeting has yet to be posted at this time. I have not heard any first-hand account of the meeting that sounded at all like the Bp account. I do agree with W.S. about board members being active in the process. How about board members being ex officio members of such committees? They surely should not be shut out the way they are now. Also, am I understanding that this board has no standing committees?

On a related matter, has anyone noticed the way the school board is being filmed? Board member Shreve has to lean way forward to be on camera. Board member Hickman is hidden behind a column and board member Carlton is partially hidden behind the column; both are crammed in beside the school staff with the staff placed more prominently. Somebody put a lot of thought into all of this. Wow.

Good news is, it appears from the recent revisions made to the curriculum development policy, any new curriculum must require lessons in cursive and further instruction in the memorization of multiplication tables.

Strange news is, the rewording of the policy seemingly to alleviate accountability regarding the curriculum choosing process.

go.boarddocs.com$file/Policy%203100%20-%20DS%20revised.pdf

I agree with the curriculum team that sounds fine but in my opinion all school board members should be active members of this team participating in the process. They are the ones accountable to the voter not teachers or parents. I understand they will vote at the end of the process whether to approve the curriculum or veto it but I feel like they should all take a hands on approach. It is what they were elected to do .

The woke agenda involves lots of things and using things like the 1619 project instead of real history is indeed part of it, but so are things like radical gender theory. Actually, I am a big fan of British public education law that requires teachers to present both sides of any politically contested theory or issue. Students should be presented with both sides. I have never heard of one of the woke fairy tales that does tnat. Indeed the inventor of the 1619 Project admits that it is not history. That also applies to science, where I doubt many teachers are teaching both sides of the science on climate issues.

By woke - you mean will the curriculum tell the truth or the white euapeon fairytale. If you love your country, you can take an honest look at its past.

Elect MAGA conservatives at your own risk. They can't govern and are grievance based. They never stop complaining and it's weird.

Bath parent, there is an important issue being addressed all over the country that has nothing to do with any personalities in Beaufort County, either Richardson or Cheeseman, and that is whether public schools will have a woke curriculum or a more traditional curriculum. It is a battle between parents, who polls show that in NC 71% are concerned about political indoctrination of their chidlren in the classroom, and the woke education establishment in Raleigh. Governor Cooper has put some really far out leftists on the state school board.

As the legal staff of the General Assembly pointed out, correctly, to Representative Kidwell, county boards of education have absolute authority in choosing a curriculum and do not have to kowtow to the woke state board of education. The original draft of the new local curriculum policy recognized that right. The changes announced by Cheeseman waved a white flag to kowtow to the Raleigh education establishment. That was a big blow to local control of local schools.

Raleigh has been trying to assert too much control of local schools for decades. I remember a couple of meetings of the old Pitt-Beaufort Conservative Union back in the late 1970s, when one of our members, a conservative Democrat who was school board attorney for Pitt County told us a big part of his work for the schools was fighting off efforts by Raleigh to tell the local schools what to do when Raleigh had no legal basis to assert such control. The only thing that seems to have changed on this front is less backbone among local leaders to fight it.

Hood if David Hudson could run as a Republican he would have a R on ballot. Registration issues I guess he was not a republican at the time to file. Just think Hood you have been a democrat more than anyone on the ballots. You want to fit a narrative that you and your PAC can control members. Think about self thinking person not one that gets handed papers to read in the meeting. I was in the back of the room last Tuesday and watch 2 of your PAC members tell your people how to vote from the audience. They then got up and commenced to fuss them out. All of this is on video for you to watch. I hope Beaufort County wises up and voted you out. This county deserves better than your mouth and getting nothing done.

1) We need to change the power balance on the BC Commission.
2) We need to change the power balance on the BC School Board. 3) Be Be the resident troll is suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder, TDS, HDS, and racism. 4) Alcoholism????
5) Just what is a looser?
