Comments for Primary “Elections” Importance

Knowing candidates and voting is just as necessary in primaries as in general elections.

LOOKS LIKE MY TRUTH HIT A NERVE IN "TURTH BE TOLD". TRUTH BE TOLD MUST BE A DEMOCRAT OR A RINO BECAUSE HE IS TAKIG THE TRUTH AND TWISTING IT INTO HIS OWN DISTORTED VERSION OF REALITY.

WATCH EVENTS PLAY OUT BETWEEN NOW AND THE PRIMARY ELEECTIO DAY. REALITY IS MORE ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE DO THAN WHAT THEY SAY.

AS FOR KIDWELL, HE HAS MANAGED TO OFFEND EVERY GROUP HE HAS COME INTO CONTACT WITH. SIMPLY VOTING RIGH IS NOT ENOUGH IF ONE LACKS THE SKILL TO GET ALOG WITH PEOPLE AS OPPOSED TO BULLYING THEM, AND USING THE BACK ROOM OF THE BEAUFORT COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY TO GO AFTER CONSERVATIVE REPUBLCIANS, THEN HE IS NOT WORTHY OF OUR POLITICAL TRUST.

Armstrong "doesn't know Berger"??? While he may have plausible deniability on that, it is only because Berger went through liberal House RINO Jimmy Dixon to do most of his House recruiting, as well as at least one Senate recruitment. Dixon has openly boasted of identifying Armstrong as a potential candidate and talking him into running. Armstrong cannot deny knowing Dixon because Dixon was present at his fundraiser, along with uber-RINOs Frankie Waters and Steve Troxler. That threesome, Dixon, Waters, and Troxler were his guests of honor. When conservative Republican US Senator Lauch Faircloth, whose background was in farming, ran for reelection to the senate, liberal Troxler was chairman of Farmers for John Edwards, supporting the ultra-liberal slick Raleigh lawyer against Faircloth. Since he supported liberal John Edwards against an incumbent conservative, I guess it is no surprise that Troxler is supporting Armstrong against one of the top conservative incumbents in the NC House.

Armstrong "a Republican"???? I guess technically so in the same sense that Frankie Waters was "a Republican" when he ran for commissioner. Prior to that they were longtime Democrats. Armstrong was a Democrat while he lived in Hyde County, and a major contributor to Democrat kingpin Marc Basnight. So a Marc Basnight Democrat is now trying to reinvent himself as a "Republican"? Shades of Frankie Waters. We have seen that movie before and we know how it ends. The "values he grew up in" were Democrat values. Is that what he wants to preserve?

"Protecting individual freedoms"???? Two of his special guests at his fundraiser have a history of opposing gun rights, Steve Troxler and Jimmy Dixon. Dixon was the leftwing scoundrel who killed the Constitutional Carry gun rights bill in the present legislative session.

They say "birds of a feather flock together" and when Armstrong chooses Frankie Waters, Jimmy Dixon, and Steve Troxler as part of his flock, it speaks volumes.

Darren Armstrong, 53, was raised in the Grassy Ridge community of Hyde Co. “We purchased a business in BeaufortCo, just east of Belhaven, in 2020 and moved there at that time”
Armstrong, a Republican, sd his decision to enter politics comes from a desire to serve the community and preserve the values he grew up with. “I am running because I am a conservative Republican and this is my home where my roots run deep in Eastern North Carolina, and I know I can make a positive difference”

Armstrong said he has several priorities focused on economic growth, preserving local industries, & protecting individual freedoms. “I would like to keep agriculture our state’s number one economic driver, protect our commercial fishing industry, grow our small businesses & residential developmernt or the next generation, keep our timber

Let’s check your vetting record. One candidate you recruited went to file to run for school board and wasn’t a registered Republican. He had to run as an unaffiliated. The other candidate you recruited to run for school board was not even registered to vote. She had to register before she could file. There is more but I think you get the point.

I am told that there was a school board candidate from Chocowinity who came to speak to the conservative club some time ago and did not impress many people. I would have my doubts about his getting their support. The House primary is another question mark. Purely on issues, Kidwell would be the clear choice for any conservative, but he has ruffled some feathers on internal party matters and some may push for the Phil Berger recruited challenger which would be unfortunate.

To my knowledge, the Conservative Club has not chosen candidates for this primary yet. There may be some disagreements about some candidates who think they have the clubs support. The vetting point is a good one, though. All candidates need to be questioned on issues either by an written questionaire or in person. If it is in person, it needs to be tape recorded, so if they backtrack it can be played back to them and to the public.

Van Zant: The commenter - Truth Be Told - may not be a RINO; rather, I believe "Truth Be Told" is actually a Democrat, or a Democratic Socialist.

Democratic Socialists have told me that they are very happy with the RINOs holding the majority on Beaufort County Commision as they have forged the Center-Left / Left Coalition to serve as lackey's of the Bureaucrat Class and other Special Interests.

"Truth Be Told" writes in the vernacular of a RINO, but I think their poorly considered words, moreover, represents the aspirations of the Democratic Socialists of Beaufort County.

It's actually the opposite of what TBT is saying. The county commission is presently being controlled by an alliance of two recent Democrats with two still registered Democrats. That gives this coalition a four to three ruling majority. The Beaufort County Republican Party backs the two recent Democrats that changed to Republican to get elected. The misinformation is coming from TBT.

Hogwash. The “so called Conservative Club” supports democrats and others. You have no vetting process. It is pretty obvious you have never and will never know what it is to be a conservative. Your rhetoric is from the left. You keep repeating the same lies and misinformation. You want to put Beaufort County into a tiny box and close the Hood. The true Republicans Party in Beaufort County want economic growth, small businesses thriving, and our children/grandchildren to have a reason to come home. Yes, we want them to find good jobs locally. You have held Beaufort County back for far too long. Obviously this primary is important. We need new leadership on the Board of Commissioners. Truth be told, many of us know the background of the candidates you have hand selected. There is no vetting process with your club. It’s about who you can control.

Unca Hood grand slammed this one out of the park; he's way ahead of 3/4's of the MAGA and Mainline GOP "boomers and doomers".....light-years ahead on this one.

There are certain "Republicans" who have used the cover of MAGA, both mainline and "underground", in an attempt to keep themselves in office..... unopposed. The remaining voters and HONEST elected officials who know the playbook of these B-movie actors are holding feet to the fire and ain't backing off until a "first down" is achieved. Even then, you have to keep gaining yards on the field; complacency leads to despotism.

The 2026 midterms are going to, I believe, be one of the biggest wild card ACTUAL upsets we've seen in politics, especially NC politics, yet. You can best believe that North Carolina and other key swing states are being watched closely by the Trump team; Kidwell and others know this.

As we've said previously: "Politics as usual" ain't cutting it anymore and people are doing their homework.

Just to Reiterate a salient point in defense of my candidacy in the upcoming Republican Primary for Beaufort County Commission, the largest taxing authority is Beaufort County, tasked with assessing your property and setting tax rates to take your money no matter where you live, I am the one and only Proven Conservative running for election in that primary, for that most important seat.

I am not declaring that other Republicans may not learn to govern in a Conservative manner, I am simply and emphatically declaring that I have Never Voted for a tax increase in my 25 years of service, and I have proposed policy and oversight to cut tens of millions of Wasteful Spending to blunt the upward surge of the tax rate, where many other so-called "Republicans," excepting Conservative Commissioner Hood Richardson, have Not and would NOT do as I have done - Fight to Save Taxpayers' Money.
