Comments for Washington, N.C., Deserves Better Than This

Small cities rarely make headlines. Their struggles - fiscal mismanagement, leadership vacuums, the slow erosion of public trust - play out in school gymnasiums and wood-paneled council chambers, witnessed by a handful of residents and largely ignored by the world outside.

Strong piece. I've lived here my whole life and I've never seen a council member treat a city employee the way Perreault/TYRE has treated Mr. Roberson in those meetings. Whatever your politics, that man deserves respect. Forty-plus years of service and this is what he gets? We can do better.

To the new City of Washington Council majority: You should take your time; catch your governing breath; better learn your jobs, and do not rush into making a terrible decision that you can not extricate yourselves from without further damaging your terrible financial position.

We city of Washington residents just can't catch a break when it comes to governing with some modicum of good sense. We need the new board majority to stick together and make a stand, a stand that even Government Man could be proud of.

DO NOT hurry yourselves into making an egregiously stupid decision!

This is egregious that the conservative city council would hire a far left loonie toon for the city’s top position and likely a dei hire ensuing from his first police chief hire
