Hospitals making money off AI

That's good. Trumps BBB would have wrecked rural health care without it.

Rural healthcare
- North Carolina received $213 million in first-year Rural Health Transformation funding.
- The program is intended to strengthen rural hospitals, healthcare facilities and access to care
From the Republican Party. Not Obama.
Sources: White House, U.S. government agencies and North Carolina government sources

Bob, it was those big insurance companies that helped design Obamacare, and they designed it in a way that they make a lot of money. Obamacare destroyed competition in medicine and medical insurance. Before Obamacare, there were a lot of options and competition in medical insurance. Now, in much of North Carolina, a consumer has only one choice in the Obamacare "marketplace".

The problem in Obamacare is collusion between government and powerful special interests, They have royally screwed up our medical system. Outright government control would just be worse.

It makes me puke every time I hear a far left Democrat spew something about "Medicare for all". which would become nothing but a rip off of American seniors. Seniors have paid into Medicare all their working lives. Flooding the system with lots of people who have paid less or maybe nothing, is a huge screw job on seniors.

The left made claims like that as excuses for imposing Obamacare. but from what I have personally observed, it is a bogus claim. I have known a fair number of people who got cancer or other serious illnesses during the pre-Obamacare period, and not a one of them had their insurance cancelled.

What kills patients so often under government run medicine is very long waiting lists. I remember an article in a British newspaper on the subject that used the cases of three cancer patients as an example. All were diagnosed by the National Health service (NHS) with the same type of cancer at the same stage. One mortgaged his house and sought care at a private British hospital outside the HHS. He received timely treatment and recovered. A second borrowed money and sought care in India. He received timely treatment and recovered. The third waited his turn on the NHS waiting list, and by the time they got to him, he was told he had become terminal and it was pointless to operate. He died.

There is a reason that just about all senior doctors who work for the British NHS buy private medical insurance so they can get decent care in the private health system. They do not want to rely on the system they work in. They know its flaws. Fortunately, the UK allows a private system to continue to exist beside the government system. Canada does not do that.

The ACA is the only reason your HC isn't cancelled 15 seconds after you get sick.

Dude, It's not really the government. It's private health care insurance companies that buy off the politicians (on both sides) then turn around and treat us like pin cushions.

These guys watch the two of us argue all the way to the bank while dearleader builds a ballroom. Agree or disagree, at least Obama did something. The current admiistration....not so much.

Bob, when government bureaucrats run health care systems, that is the worst of all worlds. Look at socialized medical systems like Canada and the UK for4 example. where patients often have to go abroad for decent and timely care. Government intrusion into US healthcare through the Obamacare boondoggle has made our system a lot more expensive than it was before Obamacare.

ER is the worst part of the whole medical system for inflation by illegal aliens, because it is the place most illegal alien freeloaders mooch their "free" medical care. Hospitals are required by law to serve them (That should change), and they don't pay their bills. To break even, hospitals move the costs of serving deadbeat illegal aliens onto the bills of paying patients and their insurance companies.

The more illegal alien freeloaders who invade our country, the more it is going to drive up medical bills and medical insurance premiums.

My point is that health care costs are out of control and our system is designed to generate profits first. Everyone needs to make a profit but as soon as you get sick or hurt you will find out how things really are.

Obamacare did a lot of good to reign in the insurance company abuse, but 16 years of neglect puts us right back where we started. I for one am more interested in this issue than a ballroom.

Bob:
Remember Obama Care? Trump has lowered some drug prices, Cut a lot of waste out of Medicare. We all need to make noise. I was transported to Beaufort County hospital after and auto accident. I laid on a gurney in the hall next to the bullpen of nurses and on call physicians for eight hours, while my family waited in the waiting room not allowed to check on me. When they finally saw me, I was informed that they do not do MRI's on Saturdays. So, I waited for the next day to find out about internal injuries. Is that the Republicans fault or is it OK to continue with CON (Certificate of Need) so EC Health can continue their monopoly? Tell me more about rural hospitals and Belhaven and Martin County.

Welcome to health care in America. Its reassuring to know our president spends his time on the issues important to him, not us.

I went to the ER for an animal bite.
THE ER charged a total of 5,209.09 for facility services.
Medicare paid them $253.01. My Blue Cross paid them $138.71 .
So if the hospital can survive on just under $400 for a $5,000 bill...why cant we just skip Medicare and blue cross and just pay the hospital the $400? Why do we need the middleman and all the red tape?

I had three iron infusion drips at the Beaufort County Hospital. Takes about thirty minutes each. After each infusion I walked out. No hospital stay. Total bill, $1621.09
