    On January 16, 2014, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit executed a Search Warrant at 992 Elm Street in Belhaven. Investigators found 253 grams of a mixture of powder cocaine and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $37,950.00, 91 grams of high grade marijuana with an estimated street value of $1,820.00, digital scales, packaging material and $1,408.00 in US Currency.

    James McCabe, 42 years of age, of 516 Bridgewood Square in Belhaven and David Topping, 43 years of age, of 812 W. 3rd Street in Belhaven were arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep or Store a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. McCabe and Topping were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $200,300.00 secured bond.

    Michael Sutton, 37 years of age, of 143 Old County Road in Belhaven was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Maintaining a Vehicle to Keep or Store a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sutton was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secured bond.

    Vincent Slade, 39 years of age, of 2900 Pungo Creek Road in Pinetown was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Slade was detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,000.00 secured bond.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
