    Mr. Hilton Ray "Stooge" Lewis, age 74, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday February 8, 2014 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Center.

    A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday February 10, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Ron Bousquet and Rev. Lee Kinney. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Avery Respass, Sam Carawan, Tonya Leggett, Kit Campbell, Adam Manning and Ryan Leggett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of The Telephone Connection: Sarah Parker, Lidia Hyatt, Megan Hodges, Susan Credle, Jay Walston, Misael Contreras, Lucy Garcia and Blake Beddard.

    The family will receive friends 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Virginia O'Neal located at 190 Washington Harbor, Washington, NC.

    Mr. Lewis was born in Beaufort County on November 4, 1939 son of the late Ernest Nathan Lewis and the late Eva Jones Lewis. He was a graduate of Bath High School and married the former Loretta Bryan who preceded him in death. Mr. Lewis was a supervisor and performed in research & development at Flanders Filters until his retirement. He loved tinkering on automobiles, fishing and spending time with his grandson who was the apple of his eye.

    He was a member of Bath Church of God where he was very active as long as his health permitted. He was also a member of the Improved Order of Redmen Tau Tribe # 18 and Washington Moose Lodge # 1800.

    Survivors include a daughter: Virginia Lewis O'Neal and her husband Billy of Washington; a grandson: Hilton Bryan Lewis O'Neal of Wilmington; and two sisters: Helen Campbell of Washington and Florence Haddock of Sanford, FL. Mr. Stooge was preceded in death by his wife: Loretta; two sisters: Marie Manning and Mary "Hucklebuck" Bell and three brothers: Ernest Lewis, Jr., Roy Lewis and Alton Lewis.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Rd., Suite 206 Raleigh, NC 27607.
