    STORY:

The Rocky Hock Playhouse is presenting the first show of their 2014 season with a new Easter musical entitled For God So Loved... by Gloria Emmerich. The Rocky Hock Playhouse has a long history in the area and has operated continuously since the doors opened in August of 2000. Each year, co-founder Gloria Emmerich writes a new musical celebrating the resurrection of Christ. This year the story includes Jesus' relationship with His disciples John and Peter, as well as with the beloved New Testament sisters Mary and Martha.
Jeffrey Emmerich & Gloria Emmerich: Above.

The story begins at Jacob's well near the Samarian village of Sychar. Jesus, His disciples, and friends have stopped to rest from their long journey across the plains of Shechem on the way to Galilee. They have been traveling on the Samaritan Road. Jesus has purposely taken this route to help His disciples understand how their prejudice against the Samaritans is unwarranted. The travelers leave Jesus to rest while they go into the city to purchase food. The "woman at the well" enters and meets Jesus for the first time. The ensuing conversation follows the biblical account closely. When the woman realizes who Jesus is she drops everything and runs into the city to tell her friends. She assures Jesus she will be back. Jesus' disciples encounter the woman as they return from the city and initially shun her. The lessons Jesus teaches them about prejudice and the Kingdom of God is priceless.

As the story unfolds Jesus shares many parables and revelations with His disciples. He eventually tells them that he must return to Jerusalem where "the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and scribes and that they will condemn Him to death." He also assures them that though He must die for their sins He will rise again. The story ends with the triumphant resurrection of Jesus.
