Jones Honored for Pro-life, Pro-family Votes

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) has been awarded the Family Research Council Action True Blue Award for his commitment to pro-life and pro-family values. Congressman Jones earned a perfect 100 percent on FRC Action's 2013 scorecard by consistently voting to defend faith, family, and freedom.

"I am honored to be a recipient of this year's True Blue Award," said Congressman Jones. "I will continue to be a staunch advocate for the most vulnerable among us  -  the unborn  -  while fighting to defend the strong principles of faith and family that I share with my fellow Eastern North Carolinians."

Jones Advocates for F-35 Maintenance Facility At FRC East

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) was joined by four fellow members of the North Carolina congressional delegation in advocating for funding of the F-35 Vertical Lift Fan Repair and Test Facility at Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) East. In a letter to Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, Congressman Jones and his colleagues explained that because the initial operating capability for the F-35B is projected to be achieved by the end of 2015, funding for the FRC East facility should be included in the Navy's Fiscal Year 2018 budget to ensure that the aircraft are maintained in top condition.

"Considering that the vertical lift fan is an essential, high-stress component of the F-35, I believe it is critically important that facilities in addition to the original equipment manufacturer be available for depot-level maintenance and testing," said Congressman Jones. "Allowing this work to be done by the capable employees of FRC East would be the right decision for Eastern North Carolina, the service members who will depend on the F-35's readiness, and the taxpayers who are funding the aircraft's acquisition and maintenance."
