Joseph, the Dreamer, tells the biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colors. The story is tragic yet enthralling. Joseph was his father’s favorite. Jealousy drove his brothers to sell him into slavery where he was taken to Egypt. After years of imprisonment Joseph’s gift for interpreting dreams ultimately led him to become Pharaoh’s second in command. A famine in Israel forced his brothers to travel to Egypt seeking food. Eventually, they found themselves pleading for their lives from a brother they no longer recognized. The reconciliation that followed was gripping.

Joseph, the Dreamer won a Dove Award (Best Musical) when it was first written in 1983. The show, which has become a standard, is considered composer Cam Floria’s finest work.
