Obituary: Bruce Till | Eastern North Carolina Now

     Mr. Frankie “Bruce” Till, age 68, a resident of 205 Hilltop Lane, Washington, N.C., died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at his home.

    A memorial service will be conducted at Four Holes First Baptist Church in Orangeburg, S.C., at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    Bruce was born in Cameron, S.C., on Nov. 19, 1942, son of William Jennings Bryan Till Jr. and Virginia Livingston Brown Till. He was a graduate of Orangeburg High School in Cameron, S.C., and continued his education at Clemson University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard where he was called to duty stateside. Bruce married the former Brenda Jane Fisher on Nov. 16, 1989, who survives. He was a corporate traffic manager with National Spinning Company in Washington with 32 years of service. Bruce retired from National Spinning in 2004. He was a member of Washington Yacht & Country Club, N.C. Traffic Association and Four Holes First Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC.

    Surviving along with Bruce’s wife Brenda of the home are his parents: Bryan and Virginia Till of Orangeburg, S.C.; two daughters: Kristy Surles and Karen Clark both of Greenville, N.C., and four grandchildren: Zach and Jackson Surles and Madison and Brayden Clark. Bruce was preceded in death by a sister: Cynthia T. Zeigler on Aug. 12, 1993.

    In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests that memorial contributions be made to Leo Jenkins Cancer Awareness Fund, Attn: Fredia Butts, 600 Moye Blvd, Greenville, NC 27834.

    Bruce’s family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Paul Walker, Susan Eubanks, Teresa Parent, Celeste Cowan, the staff of Leo Jenkins Cancer Center and Dr. Mark Bowling.
