Governor, First Lady Host Military Family Easter Egg Hunt | Eastern NC Now

Governor Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory hosted military families from throughout the state at the Executive Mansion in Raleigh today for an Easter Egg Hunt.

    Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory hosted military families from throughout the state at the Executive Mansion in Raleigh today for an Easter Egg Hunt.

    "We were honored to have these brave men, women and families join us today," said First Lady Ann McCrory. "We welcomed these 70 special families to the mansion to hunt for eggs, visit with the Easter bunny and play in the bounce house so that they could enjoy this time together."

    Families from Fort Bragg, North Carolina National Guard, Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point, Marine Corps Air Station New River, Coast Guard Elizabeth City and Wilmington and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base attended the Egg Hunt on the front lawn of the historic mansion.

    "We are so proud of the men and women of the armed forces that live in this great state," said Governor McCrory. "Their contributions to our state and the world at large, along with the sacrifices made by their loved ones, have changed this nation for the better. It's why my administration is so focused on improving state government services for veterans and active-duty personnel."

    Cornell A. Wilson, military adviser to Governor McCrory and Retired Major General of the US Marine Corps took part in today's event.
    Representatives and volunteers from the NC National Guard, Support Military Spouses, and the USO of NC assisted with the event as well, with Durham native and "The Voice" star Lowell Oakley making a special appearance.
