Press Release:

RALEIGH, NC     Deborah Ross needs to explain what an "unsuccessful rape" is and apologize to the victim for describing her brutal rape in these terms, and also apologize to the public for fighting to get the attacker back on the streets. As reported by CNN, Deborah Ross sought leniency for a rapist who allowed the victim's 20 month old child to watch the crime. Ross said although the victim was brutalized and reported to police she was raped, the forced sex act was "unsuccessful" and therefore, did not warrant stiff consequences.

"This is beyond belief. Deborah Ross clearly has a pattern of siding with sexual predators and sex offenders instead of siding with victims and their families. She fought against a sex offender registry as an NC State Representative and now is revealed to have attempted negotiations on behalf of a sexual predator, citing age as a reason for not being subjected to a life sentence. Ross should instead be more worried about the 20 month old child who was given a life sentence of trauma from watching the horrific acts of Ross' client to his victim, the child's mother. Ross' views are so radical, it's hard for one to even wrap their mind around them," said NCGOP Vice Chairman, Michele Nix.

In public court documents, Ross argued that this vicious criminal should receive a slap on the wrist and be back out on the streets after four short years. In part, because Ross claimed the crime which was clearly described as rape by the victim, was "unsuccessful." Ross has offered no explanation of what an "unsuccessful" rape is. But the court disagreed with Ross' radical view, upholding his conviction for what they called a "highly vicious" crime.

"Deborah Ross is so extreme and radical, she's off the chart," remarked Zan Bunn, President of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women. "There's no excuse for attempted rape, especially attempted rape that occurred in the presence of a child. Ross' argument sends a clear message to women and children all across North Carolina that Ross cares more about sexual predators and rapists than she cares about you. She's no friend of women and she's no friend of this state. It's time for Radical Ross to retire for good," concluded Bunn.

This is further evidence that Ross is too radical for North Carolina, and adds to her pattern of siding with sexual predators over victims and women.

"To defend a sexual predator over the rape victim-- her fellow female-- is so disgusting that words fail to give her actions justice. Every female in North Carolina must ask themselves the question: should a woman who chooses to defend a rapist over a fellow woman, mother, sister, and friend, be allowed to represent us in the United States Senate? Absolutely not," said NCGOP spokeswoman, Kami Mueller.
