    Mrs. Barbara Ann Picott Ellis, age 83, a resident of 1876 Clay Bottom School Rd., Chocowinity, died July 26, 2018 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday August 4, 2018 at St. Anna Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    Mrs. Barbara Anna Ellis was born October 25, 1934, the oldest child of Robert Picott, Sr and Eva Parker Picott in Blounts Creek, North Carolina. In 1943, Barbara and her family relocated to Brooklyn, NY where she received her formal education through the New York City Public School System.

    Barbara was a God-fearing woman. She loved the Lord and it showed in her kindness and servitude. Barbara was an active member of Washington Temple Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn N.Y. During her children's formative years, she served as primary caretaker and homemaker. In the late 1990's Barbara relocated back to her hometown of Blounts Creek and worked as a Nursing Aid at Cedar Manor Nursing home in Chocowinity where she retired. She continued worshipping the Lord at Saint Anna Missionary Baptist Church in Blounts Creek NC.

    On July 26, 2018 Mrs. Barbara Ellis passed away peacefully surrounded by her immediate family at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, NC. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Picott, Sr and Eva Parker Picott; husbands, Charles McNair and Sylvester Ellis, brother Jimmy Picott, sister Laura Picott, sons: Charles Jr. Derit, Larry and Keith and granddaughters: Valerie and Kareema.

    Barbara leaves to cherish her memory five brothers: Robert Picott, Jr (Joyce), H Ray Picott (Jane), William Picott, Thomas Picott (Bertha), Micheal Picott (Eresha); three sisters Reatha Coley-Hill (William), Lanisha Brown (Divine) and Iris Smith (Mario) ; four children: Denise McNair, Stephanie C-Asia Kennedy (Peter), Tracy McNair and Joseph Ellis (Ursula), a son-in law, Alfred Brodie, three daughter in-laws Carol McNair (Charles Jr.), Eugena McNair (Keith), Sherri McNair (Derit), 11 grandchildren; Terrell, Ralah, Precious, Latosha, Takisha, Shauntay, Shanelle, Shatima, Florence, Penny Jean, Kendel and Marcy; a host of Great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren nieces, nephews, cousins extended family and friends.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday August 3, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
