    Mrs. Grace Carawan Hardison, age 84, a resident of Chocowinity, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Edwards Cemetery, Possum Track Road, Chocowinity, conducted by Nelson Koonce.

    The following will serve as pallbearers: Ricky "Bubba" Hardison, Kelvin Hardison, Jason Hardison, Gary Tetterton, Timmy Beddard, and Fonzie Schwartz. .

    Mrs. Hardison was born in Pitt County on January 12, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Riley Bonner and Retha Wainwright Carawan. Mrs. Hardison was a homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed working puzzle books, adult coloring books and watching Game Show Network.

    On April 2, 1955, Mrs. Hardison married John Taylor Hardison, Sr., who preceded her in death, March 21, 2007.

    She is survived by one son, John Taylor "Ricky" Hardison, Jr. of Chocowinity; two daughters, Judy Elaine Hardison of Blounts Creek, Patricia Hardison Tetterton and her husband, Les of Chocowinity; two grandchildren, Christina Hardison, Ricky "Bubba" Hardison; four great grandchildren, Briana Small, Zachary Sutherland, Hunter Hardison, Colton Hardison; and several nephews.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hardison was preceded in death by a son, Charles Thomas Hardison; four brothers, Willis Carawan, Wilford Hall Carawan, Dalton Earl Carawan, and Robert Carawan; and one sister, Betty Pearl Hardison.

    The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Friday, August 17, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of her daughter, Patricia Hardison Tetterton, 375 Hardison Road, Chocowinity, N.C. 27817.

    Memorials may be made to the James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital, 2102 Stantonsburg Road, Greenville, N.C. 27834 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
