Final Filing Information, 2012: Beaufort County Democrat Commissioner Candidates have a Primary | Eastern NC Now

Beaufort County politics: the democratic process, just took a remarkable turn as we come to the end of filing for the 2012 election.

ENCNow
Beaufort County politics - the democratic process - just took a remarkable turn as we come to the end of this filing period for the 2012 election. In this upcoming election, we have more primaries than I can remember, with nearly every seat contested in a primary.

Most notably, there will be a primary in the Democrat primary for Beaufort County Commissioners, as well as in the Republican primary for that same office. There will also be a Republican primary in the NC House, District 6, race between Mattie Lawson, Arthur Williams and Jeremy Adams. There will also be a Republican primary in NC House, District 3, between Michael Speciale and Wayne Langston.

In the NC Senate, District 3, there will be a Republican primary between Realtor Jerry Evans, who enjoys the support of various special interests groups, and NC Rep Bill Cook, who seeks to represent his constituents from a seat that will give them a stronger voice. the winner of this primary would run against the unopposed incumbent, Stan White, in the 2012 general eElection.

With all this activity in this primary season, remarkably, some candidates do not understand the power of the internet, may well avoid one of the region's leaders in internet traffic. To these political neophytes I offer these words of wisdom below:

Here at BCN, we have developed the resources, and moreover, we have the absolute will to do our part to keep you informed, and to help strip away years of misinformation that has retarded the open knowledge of some members of the electorate.

Sadly, that intent to revise, and limit information, as it is disseminated, is ongoing, but then again, so are we.

One more item of public interest: Due to BCN's large growth in traffic, serious candidates would be wise to forward all press releases, public statements, or editorials that would better inform the electorate to give that public an impetus to vote for them.

Every time that I have run for public office, I always question myself: Have I done everything that I could have done to win within the time, and the financial resources at my disposal?

If one is a serious candidate, that candidate will ask themselves that question. If you do not avail yourself to the wide coverage that Beaufort County Now enjoys, you may be cheating yourself from knowing victory on election day.
