Press Release:

Today Third District Congressional candidate Frank Palombo responded to former NC-GOP Chairman Jim Hasting's interview on a local talk radio show.

Hastings, a self-described Conservative, was a guest on "The Morning Beat with Chad Adams" (WLTT 93.7 FM & 106.3 FM Wilmington). Midway into the interview, Mr. Hastings expressed serious concerns about Walter Jones breaking his promise to the American people on term limits, accepting large sums of Labor Union PAC contributions, partnering with Barney Frank to cut our nation's military defense, and more.

"I echo Mr. Hastings' concerns about Walter Jones," Palombo said. "I am running to unseat 18-year incumbent Jones to bring true conservative citizen representation to Washington, DC."

During the radio interview, Hastings expressed concern about Walter Jones being rated by the National Journal as the most liberal Republican member of Congress. Hastings described Jones as being out of touch with Eastern North Carolina's Conservative values. He said Walter Jones was a Democrat and became a Republican for political reasons, to win office. The former Chairman said that he has known Jones for over thirty-years and knew his father, former Congressman Walter Jones, Sr., before him.

Hastings said he is tired of the games and is looking for people who are honest and sincere; people who say what they mean and do what they say. There are just too many self-serving people in office and it is really, really disturbing.

"I appreciate Mr. Hastings straightforward assessment of Walter Jones and his support for my campaign," Palombo said. "Eastern North Carolina deserves true conservative leadership. It's time for Walter Jones to go home."
