Lillian D. Woodworth | Eastern North Carolina Now

   Lillian D. Woodworth, 94, of New Wilmington, PA, passed away the morning of June 7, 2012, at Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare.

    Born Sept. 28, 1917, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of Andrew C. and Byrdie Hartman Dietterle.

    Lillian married William A. Woodworth in 1940 and he preceded her in death Feb. 19, 1989.

    Lillian graduated from New Castle High School and then worked as a sales associate at The Temple Shop for 20 years.

    She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the McIlvaine Guild.

    Lillian was a member of Friends of the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, Prime Timers, Wimodausis, Paws and Taws modern western square dancers, Jr. Reading Circle, Rainbow Girls and various bridge groups. She volunteered for the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and Jameson Memorial Hospital. She was a Girl Scout leader in New Wilmington.

    Survivors include three daughters, Norma Hoffmaster-Massarelli and her husband Stan of Sarasota, Fla., Deborah Davis and her husband Lloyd of Washington, N.C., and Lauren Lipp and her husband Gregory of Rogers, Ohio; one sister, Anna Mae Griffiths of New Wilmington, Pa.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son; a daughter, Barbara Piper-Quinn; a sister, Elizabeth D. White; and a brother, Robert C. Dietterle.

    The family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, PA.

    A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Nathan Loudon will officiate. Burial will be at Castle View Gardens.
