- NC has had a total 186,887 confirmed cases, with 3,111 deaths. Our state currently has 16,519 active cases and 916 hospitalizations.
- Beaufort County has had a total of 913 cases, with 215 currently active, 13 of which are hospitalized.
- All active cases are self-isolating.
- Eastern NC counties with total confirmed cases include: Bertie, (520), Beaufort (913), Bladen (803), Brunswick (1,487), Carteret (587), Camden (107), Chowan (285), Columbus (1,269), Craven (1,181), Currituck (137), Dare (259), Duplin (2,121), Edgecombe (1,189), Gates (109), Greene (485), Halifax (930), Hertford (645), Hyde (123), Jones (141), Lenoir (907), Martin (400), New Hanover (3,710), Northampton (389), Onslow (1,731), Pamlico (219), Pasquotank (631), Pender (837), Perquimans (161), Pitt (4,345) Sampson (1,710), Tyrrell (111), Washington (196), Wayne (3,046) and Wilson (1,979). Mecklenburg (27,021), Wake (16,480), and Durham (7,782) counties have the most cases.

Re-Opening Timeline / Guidelines
- There have been 14,660 tests completed in Beaufort County to date, with 13,638 negatives, 904 positives and 118 pending. (These are cumulative numbers and includes test performed at the Health Department and reporting private medical facilities throughout our county.) *Nine (9) of our positive cases were tested in other counties but are Beaufort Co. residents.*
- There were 1,141 tests completed by reporting agencies in Beaufort County last week. 8.5% of those tests were found to be positive. Outbreaks in Long Term Care Facilities were found to be a heavy influence on the positivity rates experience over the past 7 days.
Below is a summary of our states plan for a phased reopening. Please note that these timelines / guidelines are subject to change based on case trends and / or additional executive orders.
Phase 2.5 (Will begin at 5pm Friday, 9/4 and continue through 5pm Friday 10/2)
Governor Cooper has announced the easing of several restrictions beginning at 5pm Friday, 9/4. This change will allow for the reopening of the following.
- Gyms at 30% Capacity
- Museums & Aquariums at 50% Capacity
- Mass Gatherings are limited to 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors.

Restaurants and Personal Care Services must follow safety protocols including the potential need to reduce capacity. (Bar & Fitness Centers will remain closed under Executive Order 141)
Requires face coverings in public spaces when 6 ft of distancing isn't possible.

Phase III (Could begin Oct. 2nd, 2020)
- Increased capacity at Restaurants, Bars, Other Businesses, Houses of Worship & Entertainment Venues.
- Further increase the number of people allowed at gatherings.
