A new poll should ring alarm bells in the White House after showing Americans don't want President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket in 2024.

The new poll, from I&I/TIPP, asked respondents who they wanted to run in 2024, and just 22% said they wanted Biden, while 12% said they wanted Harris. But, the Boston Herald pointed out, there is some good news for the administration, since "no favorite has emerged among the large field of potential challengers to run against Biden in the 2024 primaries."

The latest poll comes on the heels of one from The Wall Street Journal earlier this week that placed Biden's approval rating at 41%.

"It's undeniable. Joe Biden is hurting in the polls right now and it's due to a number of factors," Erin O'Brien, associate professor of political science at UMass Boston, told the Herald.

O'Brien noted that the factors leading to Biden's bad poll numbers include the ongoing pandemic, inflation, and his terrible foreign policy.

As The Daily Wire reported, the White House is responding to the poor poll numbers by meeting with friendly media outlets and trying "to reshape coverage" of the economic issues under Biden. CNN reported the efforts in its media newsletter:

The White House, not happy with the news media's coverage of the supply chain and economy, has been working behind the scenes trying to reshape coverage in its favor. Senior White House and admin officials - including NEC Deputy Directors David Kamin and Bharat Ramamurti, along with Ports Envoy John Porcari - have been briefing major newsrooms over the past week, a source tells me.

The officials have been discussing with newsrooms trends pertaining to job creation, economic growth, supply chains, and more. The basic argument that has been made: That the country's economy is in much better shape than it was last year. I'm told the conversations have been productive, with anchors and reporters and producers getting to talk with the officials...

Late last month, The Daily Wire reported that Biden's approval rating was lower than even the lowest-rated governor, dropping to 30% in 17 states. At the time, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, a Democrat, had the lowest approval rating of any governor in the country, at just 43%. Even the latest Journal poll shows Biden is still below that.

Biden's approval rating is even dropping among young Democrats and Independents, The Daily Wire reported:

A recent Harvard poll found that Joe Biden's approval rating among young people has fallen 13 points since spring, with his overall disapproval rate now at 51%. He saw a double-digit drop among Democrats and Independents.

The poll, conducted by Harvard Public Opinion Project, surveyed adults ages 18-29 about a number of key political opinions. Overall, 2,109 people were polled throughout Fall 2021.

Biden's approval among the demographic was nearing 60% back in March, but that has dropped as he has a 51% disapproval rate among the same group now.
