Politicos and journalists on social media erupted in commentary on Thursday after the Supreme Court blocked a Biden administration mandate that would have forced private businesses with at least 100 employees to require workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit to regular testing.

"OSHA's COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing; Emergency Temporary Standard, 86 Fed. Reg. 61402, is stayed pending disposition of the applicants' petitions for review in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and disposition of the applicants' petitions for writs of certiorari, if such writs are timely sought. Should the petitions for writs of certiorari be denied, this order shall terminate automatically. In the event the petitions for writs of certiorari are granted, the order shall terminate upon the sending down of the judgment of this Court," the court said.

Reporter Philip Wegmann posted via Twitter that President Joe Biden has had a "tough 48 hours."

"Biden's Tough 48 Hours: He slips to 33% approval in Quinnipiac, Sinema slams the door on a filibuster carve out while he is on the Hill, and then the Supreme Court blocks his vaccine mandate for private business," he posted.

Similarly, podcast host and writer Stephen L. Miller noted of Biden's day: "Fun day for the administration," he snarked.

Others celebrated the "Victory for freedom," as Republican Mark Meadows commented.

Former Vice President Mike Pence echoed, "Freedom Wins!"

"A wonderful day for the unvaccinated!! Thank you SCOTUS," The Daily Wire's Candace Owens posted. "Now Congress needs to abolish OSHA for even making the attempt."

"A victory for science - and liberty," said Bryan Dean Wright.

"This a win for the Constitution and 'We the People,'" wrote Rep. Jason Zachary (R-TN). "Thankful for SCOTUS's ruling and all those who engaged on behalf of the America people."

"This is a FREE country," wrote Republican TX Rep. Troy Nehls (TX). "No matter what the Biden administration would have you believe."

"Great," said politico Logan Hall, "now overturn [Roe v. Wade]."

The Daily Wire fought back against the Biden mandate early, suing the administration in November.

"We at the Daily Wire are proud that we refused to comply with the Biden vaccine mandate from the start, and that we were the first company in America to file our constitutional challenge to it," Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro said. "And we rejoice with you at the Supreme Court's eminently correct ruling today."

"Not all companies stood up for the medical freedom of their employees," Shapiro added. "And we couldn't have done that without your support. So thank you. And if you're not a subscriber, please consider doing so today, so we can keep fighting."

Notably, the Supreme Court upheld a regulation that "mandates vaccines for almost all employees at hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care providers that receive federal funds," NPR reported.

Some on social media were quick to point out how the upheld mandate is hurting the health care system, though Biden is celebrating the news.

"We've lost 49,000 staffed hospital beds in the last 365 days and 16,000 in the last 30 days, and the Biden admin is celebrating SCOTUS letting them fire nurses and doctors who have already had COVID a couple times for declining a vaccine that does not reduce Omicron transmission," said Phil Kerpen.
