Press Release:

    Good afternoon,

In 2021, North Carolina experienced nearly 4,000 overdose deaths- a 26% increase in drug overdose deaths from 2020, and with Biden's open-border policies, " fentanyl is everywhere."

The Biden administration created the perfect avenue for drugs to flow through our border freely with open border policies, understaffed border patrol agents and lack of leadership. 461 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 11,118 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the southern border in December alone and the trend has continued in 2022.

The administration's inaction and ignorance have resulted in deadly consequences. We continue to see an uptick in overdoses across the country and a staggering number of opioid deaths.

"Biden's open borders agenda is aiding and abetting the flow of lethal drugs, fueling a nationwide opioid crisis that's costing North Carolinians their lives. As Cheri Beasley refuses to acknowledge this public health crisis caused by Biden, Republicans will continue to fight for secure borders that keep Americans safe."- RNC Spokeswoman Alex Nolley
