Mrs. Beatrice Pauline Whiteside Stiltz, age 94, a former resident of Washington, NC, and Burlington, NJ, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at her home in Bethel, NC. She was affectionately known as “Miss Bea.”

    Mrs. Beatrice Pauline Whiteside Stiltz, age 94, a former resident of Washington, NC, and Burlington, NJ, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at her home in Bethel, NC. She was affectionately known as "Miss Bea."

    The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Washington. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church.

    Mrs. Stiltz was born in Burlington, NJ, on October 23, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry Whiteside and Anna Mae Gardner Whiteside. Mrs. Stiltz was a retired retail store manager, then worked at the Home for Aged Women in the late 1990's, she retired again from the City of Burlington Recreation Department in the early 2000's. While living in New Jersey, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Florence, serving as Sunday School teacher and Deaconess. Mrs. Stiltz was a member of the Columbus Park Civic Association and Treasurer for the Columbus Park Bus while her children were of school age, later the Burlington Housing Authority, AARP, the Good Cheer Club, and served several years as a Burlington County Committee Person. Mrs. Stiltz lived in Burlington for 77 years before moving, in December 2004, to Washington, NC. After moving to Washington NC, Mrs. Stiltz volunteered with Meals on Wheels and spent many years at Washington Montessori Public Charter School volunteering her time with classes of 3-5-year-old children. She was loved by children and teachers, alike, and would quite often be greeted by hugs from the children, even those that had moved on to higher grades. Most recently she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington and the Grace Sunday school Class.

    Mrs. Stiltz was married, in 1950, to Harry Everett Stiltz who preceded her in death in 1997.

    Mrs. Stiltz is survived by a daughter, Dawn Noble of Washington; son, Dean Stiltz of Clearwater, FL; four grandchildren, Jennifer Wells, Christopher Wells (Sherrie Wells), Jason Noble (Jess Greenberg), Shannon Noble; three great grandchildren, Joshua Groves, Scarlett Rose Noble, Silas Orion Noble; one great-great grandchild, Oziahh Millikan (son of Joshua Groves); son-in-law, Anthony Petrizzo; and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Stiltz was preceded in death by daughter, Donna Petrizzo; brother, Thomas Whiteside; four sisters, Daisy Keller, Marion Burke, Anna May Serafin, Ann Kee; and son in law, Bruce Noble.
