Press Release:

Charlotte     US Senate candidate and former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory today released his first television ad of the US Senate campaign, titled "Stand With Me." The ad will hit airwaves across North Carolina beginning March 8 and is believed to be the first paid television advertisement in the country that deals with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"Since Russia invaded Ukraine, sitting Congressman Budd has repeatedly praised Putin and excused his invasion, all while Ukrainian women and children are being killed," said McCrory Strategist Jordan Shaw. "Budd's comments are not only indefensible and irresponsible, they're also proof that he's not ready to be a US Senator. We are confident Republican primary voters will agree as they see this ad."

The ad targets Budd's comments calling Putin "very intelligent" and includes a bombshell quote from Budd excusing Putin's reasons for invading Ukraine. McCrory reminds voters that we are living in "serious times" that call for "serious Senators." McCrory also says in the ad that he does not "compliment our enemies." The ad closes with McCrory asking voters to stand with him.

"Millions of dollars in false and deceptive ads attacking Gov. McCrory from Congressman Budd's DC owners still haven't worked," Shaw said. "Gov. McCrory continues to lead this race. And as we begin our ad campaign, it will become increasingly clear that Congressman Budd is unelectable in North Carolina and Gov. McCrory is on track to a strong victory in this primary."

MCCRORY: While Ukrainians bled and died...

BUDD: He's a very intelligent actor.

MCCRORY: Congressman Budd excused their killer.

BUDD: There are strategic reasons why he would want to protect his southern and western flank...we understand that.

MCCRORY: Budd's votes have been friendly toward Russia.

He voted against sanctions on Russia.

These are serious times and we need serious Senators.

I'm Pat McCrory. I don't compliment our enemies.

I stand for truth and freedom.

I approved this message. Make your stand with me.
