The Ever Curious Condition of the Oft Incurious RINO | Eastern North Carolina Now

A note from Stan: As brazen as this tome to the RINO, vested in one primary target, may appear; at this point in my existence, I see no discernible downside to hammering home the truth, as I know it well, and stand on principle in every endeavor I undertake till I draw my last breath.

In all of my understanding of life, there is nothing more destructive than the dishonest politician, and their enablers, whether Democrat or Republican. For the balance of my days, I intend to challenge both; however, I will treat the Republican with far greater disdain, for they should have the integrity to know better. Understandably, if they are not challenged now, they face the unfettered path that allows the platform, made more sturdy by our neglect, which will set an impossible example, or worse, a role model for others to follow.

RINOs are people too ... dishonest people

And while it is a condition of behavior over substance; it is a malady most learned rather than a disorder born. Rather than by some mad manner of breeding, the condition is fomented by a sociopolitical construct, the design of which is based on the imprecise measure of the pleasing of others, as if by pleasing the ganged group of pseudo influential self-importants, they become purposeful as people, and Republican by political whim.

Regrettably, this is the worst way to develop a set of political principles to govern yourself by, and if chosen by election, an even more terrible way to govern. It just never works long term. Eventually, you get found out, especially here in Beaufort County.

    Why here in Beaufort County?

Surprisingly, enough folks in Beaufort County seem to know better - that there is an indefatigable difference between truth and fiction, and they will not tolerate dishonesty in their leaders. These good citizens well understand that while the group concept of governing by committee is pure representation of the group, there are many others, like themselves, who would rather have their representative to be principled, and intelligent enough to make proper decisions. If these self-guided representatives do poorly in making decisions, they eventually lose elections ... even here in Beaufort County. That is the way a well functioning republic works.

Moreover and often, these political neophytes, with such a dishonest bent, never get elected in the first place.

In that one explicit vein, enter Larry Britt, a former past chairman of the Beaufort County Republican Party - a job few competent people want, and accordingly, few, who are elected to the position, master the job of helping other Republicans get elected. Larry Britt proved to be no exception, and became proof positive in the flesh, just how inconsequential the Republican party has become at all levels, and how its brand has become significantly tarnished. Larry's big mistake: He attacked, and still attacks, elected Conservatives unpopular with the committee of RINOs (Republicans in Name Only), who feel empowered to make a difference through their pathetic sycophants, and Larry proved to be chomping at the proverbial bit just to join the team to become their equally pathetic spokesman.

After his first uneventful year as chairman, Larry Britt accepted the mantle of being the self-sanctioned apologist for the often elected conservative Beaufort County Commissioner Hood Richardson, as if this ill considered bridge, of his self-subscribed understanding, would make some difference. Larry thought, and still thinks, he could change this "Leopard's spots." What Larry could never understand is that Commissioner Richardson only wished to be left alone to govern as he saw fit, as he was elected to do, irrespective of the wishes of the unelected, unappointed committee of RINOs, for which Chairman Britt now served as front-man.

Larry Britt, as RINO sycophant, joining RINO County Commissioner Jay McRoy, and his junior sidekick, RINO County Commissioner Al Klemm, longed to bridge the chasm between the self-serving RINO, and the incomparable, pathologically honest, and unmitigated Conservative, Hood Richardson.

Unfortunately for Chairman Britt, it was not to be, which left the Chairman confused, bewildered to the point of anger, and therefore prone to lash out, as if to mitigate his woe-begotten quest, at Commissioner Richardson, whose only fault was his acerbic nature, and uncompromising devotion to his Conservative principles.

Arguably, Hood Richardson is a mighty big target, we all understand that, but for all of Larry Britt's desire to bring the big man down, he just could not pack enough firepower to fell his new found adversary. Hood Richardson, as the target former Chairman Britt needed to destroy to distinguish himself in the political hearts of Beaufort County's implacable RINO faction, still stood, only slightly wounded, but still strong enough to carry the day against Republican Hunter Larry Britt, and these feckless RINOs Mr. Britt suffered to impress.

To make greater impact, this just-former-chairman of the Beaufort County Republican Party elected to run for county commissioner, to best Hood Richardson on the political stage, he subsequently found himself politically pummelled, losing decisively in the Republican primary, and yet now, Larrry still feels competent to make bold assessments of the capabilities of true Conservative politicians, whom, remarkably, he considers himself worthy to be their peers, if only to attck their political person.

Such a silly man of such unremarkable hubris.
It was a tough night for some candidates - that is what elections are all about. David Daniels (left) with Republican candidate for county commissioner, Larry Britt (right), who was hoped to have given Beaufort County Commissioner Jay McRoy "a run for his (political) money," literally see "the writing on the wall:" Above.     photo by Stan Deatherage

Now he believes it proper to attack me, Commissioner Stan Deatherage, as to my capabilities to be chairman of the board that I now sit senior upon (Commissioners Deatherage and Richardson are both into their 17th year as county commissioners). With Larry's immutable wisdom of all that is political, and governable, as if by taking these bold, popular stands as espoused by the self-important committee of RINOs at their behest, he somehow considers that he has the correct answers in this complex world, and that answer: Attack the Conservatives while claiming to be one. Then attack Stan Deatherage, and continue to attack Hood Richardson.

What could be more preposterous, and still utterly dishonest, but yet so worthy of the RINO mantle.

For all the fools such as Larry Britt, RINO Jay McRoy, RINO Al Klemm know this one truth: Your separate reality is a recorded one - by your deeds, your actions, and for the politicians among you - your voting record. For all that wish play this game, where much hangs in the balance - the very future of our Republic - you better unearth a honest heart, a sharp wit, and a quick tongue, or I will take you apart brick by political brick.

I despise the wholesale dishonesty of these simple men, who hold their ambitions paramount to the will of others. This Republic will only survive if it can one day be governed by a majority of honest men, of a fine intellect, and not by those who are slaves to the special interest masters, that have long herded the the ranks of RINOs: Jay McRoy, Al Klemm, and now Larry Britt.

You think my summation is too harsh. Well, I'm just getting warmed up on this subject that I am well acquainted with, and very prepared in strength of will, and fortified by purpose of duty to do all I can to rid dishonest men from this political landscape, here in Beaufort County, and elsewhere if possible. At my age of experience, and with my certain capabilities, "I do not suffer fools gladly," and I will not tolerate a puffed-up political lackey.

I've now said my peace, and you, RINOs, may say yours, but be warned: Your words could serve as arrows to complete your mission, or your bane should you choose them poorly, dishonestly.

I now leave you with Larry Britt's somewhat simple assessment of Commissioners Richardson and Deatherage, his categorical statements signifying how, and by whom, he is managed, and my retort here below:

Comment section of the Beaufort Observer

Thank you for your response. As usual, it took you a thousand words of attacking Al and me to not answer the question I asked. So, I’ll ask again: why is it wrong for Al Klemm to vote for a Democrat for Chairman and not wrong for Hood Richardson to vote for the same Democrat the last two years in a row? Why is it wrong for Al and Jay McRoy to support building the Quick Start II building but not wrong for Hood to support building the same building? Why is it wrong for Al to be the “EDC Commissioner” and push for what he wants done but not wrong for Hood to be the “Hospital Commissioner” and push for what he wanted done there? Why is nothing said of the fact that Al did support Hood for the Health Dept board?

As you are fond of saying, I beg to differ! It is all about Hood. You would be surprised how often I do agree with Hood. I am just as Conservative and believe just as much in a smaller and less intrusive government. However, I will never agree with the way he attacks other Republicans. I will never agree that his way is always right and we should all agree with him if we are to be” good Republicans”. I will never agree that he has some uncanny ability to know the BEST way to achieve our Conservative goals. I will never agree that he speaks for ALL Republicans in Beaufort County. And I will never agree that his methods of “in your face” confrontation is the only way to solve our problems. His methods have produced the major discord in the county party today and resulted in none of his goals being achieved. In the future, Hood’s far right conservative views will be challenged as much as Nancy Pelosi’s far left progressive views. Both are highly divisive and disruptive to any meaningful progress.

I don’t believe that the Democrats have done “immense” damage to this County. I’m sure that there are more social programs than you or I would like to see, and if we worked together, we could work toward decreasing their funding. But, all in all, I think the County fares pretty well when compared to similar counties around us. I would always join Hood and anyone else opposing the Democrats where our beliefs collided. However, there would have to be an agreement on how to do that and, not all Hoods way or no way. I don’t believe Al Klemm voted for a Democrat for Chairman, I know he voted for who he believed was the better person to Chair the Board. If Stan was elected Chairman it would be a disaster for the County Commissioners. As for Vice Chairman, I know for a fact that Al could care less about the title or the position and I believe you know that too.

I ask the Observer, for once, to not to be a cheerleader and defender of Hood Richardson and to answer sensible questions honestly and directly without attacking me for asking the question.

   Larry Britt

   My retort,

The RINO as a profoundly brilliant, but a terribly misunderstood individual ...

Reading Larry Britt's fractured thought process, and understanding it as the basis for his perception of a reality that some of us live, but he would never have the capacity to understand, much less adhere to it as principle, explains deeply, to me, what may well be the machinations of how a true RINO evolves.

Larry has a misguided understanding of his level of understanding of truth, true events, and the complex thinking process. This may well be a symptom / condition of the committed RINO, because this is Al Klemm's bane as well - that he well shows, through his actions, that he is somehow smarter, wiser, more intuitive than he really is, or could ever be. Larry suffers from this same delusion as well.

And while there is nothing wrong with being less wise, less intelligent, less intuitive, there is much wrong with not knowing one's limitations, and Larry Britt, just like Al Klemm, has no clue just how profound those deficiencies abide within themselves.

How can one ever grow in wisdom, when they believe they are already so utterly brilliant, and show it by their actions?

You do not want to elect these kinds of people, or even allow them close to the electing process ... not as Republicans.

This is my opinion, subjective as it is, but that is all I have to live from, think from, and react from.

Often, in most pertinent issues, eventually the truth has a way of finding its way out of the malaise. Here below is proof of such in a very well subscribed poll here in Beaufort County NOW.

This just sent to me from a third party, sent to them from "Ambassador" Al Klemm, explaining his latest RINO transgression:

Ambassador Kemm - "Jerry Langley was returned as Chairman and Al Klemm was elected Vice Chairman. Jerry has done a good job the last two years of running the meetings in a professional manner, maintaining control while allowing all commissioners to fully voice their opinions and keeps the meeting moving while getting the work completed. I'm honored to be vice chairman but my main role as commissioner is to pay attention, listen, state my position and respond when needed. I have no desire to be chairman. I do not want to run a meeting and do the things I normally do at the same time. As vice chairman, I may have to do that due to circumstances that may occur. All commissioners get one vote whether they are chairman or vice chairman. How the Board of Commissioners meetings are presented to the public and visitors are of upmost importance to me. Over the years, I have received negative comments concerning the Board of Commissioners meetings. I believe all commissioners should be ambassadors for their community. It is possible to present your views and be professional at the same time."

I think there's an oxymoron in there somewhere ... "reasonable democrat politicians" ...

Well said. They are much worse than Democrats. Democrats wear their Democrat skin, and you know who they are, and you deal with that. I actually get along with reasonable Democrat politicians.

The RINO lies in wait to feather their own nest, or the nest of their special interest masters.

RINOs actually WORSE than Democrats since many people simply vote the Party without doing their homework. That's how these guys keep getting elected.
