Jim Jordan Subpoenas Big Tech Executives In Collusion Investigation | Eastern North Carolina Now

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced Wednesday that he subpoenaed the heads of five Big Tech companies.

The subpoenas seek documents and communications "relating to the federal government's reported collusion with Big Tech to suppress free speech," according to a press release from Jordan's office.

The chief executive officers of Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft all received subpoenas.

"The House Judiciary Committee has repeatedly attempted to engage with the five companies since last December. Unfortunately, the companies have not adequately complied with our requests," the press release said.

Twitter did not appear on the subpoena list. In fact, Jordan's letters tout how Twitter "set a benchmark for how transparent Big Tech companies can be about interactions with government over censorship."

The Twitter Files, which have revealed to the public internal communications at Twitter, "have exposed how Big Tech and the federal government have worked hand in hand in ways that undermine First Amendment principles," Jordan writes. "Numerous internal documents from Twitter reflect the weaponization of the federal government's power to censor speech online."

Jordan, who also heads the new House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, set a deadline for March 23.

"Step one towards accountability," he said of the subpoenas.

The Daily Wire reached out to Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft seeking comment on the subpoenas.

"We have started producing documents, are engaged with the Committee, and committed to working in good faith," said a Microsoft spokesperson.

Sundar Pichai is the CEO of Alphabet and its subsidiary Google. Andy Jassy is the CEO of Amazon. Mark Zuckerberg is CEO of Meta and co-founder of its social media website Facebook. Tim Cook is CEO of Apple. Satya Nadella is chairman and CEO of Microsoft.

The Daily Wire also reached out to Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, for comment.

Considering what has happened to our Representative Republic since the corruptive orthodoxy that led to the tolerated abomination - The Russia Hoax - where felonies were perpetrated upon the American People by the creation of the Two Tiered Justice System, in the misnomer of "Social Justice:" Where do you stand on sustaining our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms in a society where injustice is chronically sanctioned by one political orthodoxy?
I believe in a perfected society by employing a higher governmental authority to train the behavior of the public.
The United States Constitution does not allow just a few freedoms, it guarantees ALL freedoms promised to Humankind by God.
Just don't take away my Social Media.

Where do you stand on the wanton censorship by Big Tech Platforms, while retaining their Section 230 carveout indemnifying them for Slander /Defamation lawsuits and Copyright infringements?
Big Tech Platforms have the right to Censor all speech providing they voluntarily relinquish their Section 230 Carveout.
Big Tech Platforms DO NOT have the right to Censor any speech, while retaining multiple indemnifications by virtue of the Section 230 Carveout.
I know nothing of this 230 talk, but "I do love me some social media".

Considering the renewed and unequalled dishonesty in elected politicians, at all levels of governing, and their associative nefarious bureaucrats doing their corrupt bidding: What is your opinion of YOUR government, and what do you intend to do about it?
Today's overall government is just fine, and I will continue to vote for politicians that make promises to suit my individual needs.
Today's overall government is poor, but I will continue to endeavor to learn what is true from the the most honest of media, and pick those representatives that best represent what is good and decent.
I spend quite a bit of time on Eastern NC NOW; so ... I am having a far easier time separating the proverbial "wheat from the chaff" in finding honorable citizens to support.

What is costing American and European taxpayers and electric rate payers a boatload of money is the climate alaermism nonsense. Dozens of the dire warnings of the climate alarmist charlatans have already passed their "use by" date and not a one of them has come true or even come close to being true. Climate alarmism is the biggest doomsday cult in history, Chicken Little on steroids. Climategate should have exposed for all what frauds they are.
