Turley: Smith charging Trump with free speech in new indictiment
Stalin's KGB chief once told him famously during the Stalin show trial era, "Show me the man, and I will find you the crime". That feels exactly like what the corrupt Biden DOJ and other far left Democrat persecutors . . . err . . . prosecutors are up to, and focused on one man who they see as their biggest rival for the 2024 presidential race. They have blown past the banana republic phase of this persecution and now fully into the Stalin Show Trial mode. Soon it will be an outright Inquisition and they will probably want to burn Trump at the stake. The latest indictment does include an offense that could carry the death penalty.
Consitutional law professor Jonathan Turley has observed that the latest tranche of charges from DOJ persecutor Jack-ass Smith, essentially charge President Trump with exercising his right to free speech. These cherges, then are an attack on the free speech of all of us. Also, a Pennsylvania court has already ruled in another case that any statements made by President Trump while he was president concerning the 2020 election were protected by executive privelege.
Al Gore did much of the same in 2000 and he was not prosecuted for anything. This is the sort of partisan political persecution that we have never before seen in American history.

What is also scary about this case is that it is being brought in the District of Columbia where highly partisan juries almost never convict a Democrat in cases with political overtones and almost never acquit a Republican. Instead of a jury, one gets a partisan lynch mob which will decide cases on the politics rather than on the facts.
On top of that, he has drawn an ultra-partisan Trump-hating Obama-appointed judge, who herself is a Democrat political contributor at the presidential level, who worked in the same law firm as Hunter Biden, and who is far and away the harshest sentencer on Jan. 6 riot cases, often giving longer sentences than even the lengthy terms recommended by the corrupt and politicized Biden DOJ. If this ultra-partisan judge had an ounce of integrity, she would recuse herself.
Retired Harvard Law School Professor of Constitutional Law Alan Dershowitz, one of America's top experts on Constitutional Law, has given his opinion that any conviction on Smith's J6 indictment of Trump would be overturned by the Supreme Court. Dershowitz is a Democrat who voted for Biden, but is a straight shooter on his legal opinions. Dershowitz has raised serious legal questions about all of the Democrat attempts to prosecute Trump.
The Democrats are on an authoritarian path to destroy democracy. It is to be hoped that is stopped before it reaches the point that a large segment of the population decides democracy is not working any more in America and the only solution is to deal with the resulting police state the same way the French Resistance did in World War II. The Democrats are hurtling us toward that very dangerous point. Another civil war is unthinkable, but the Democrats are putting us at risk of that. Lets hope this gets stopped before we reach that point.

Trying to jail your political opponents is what is done in a dictatorship, whether it is a banana republic or a full blown totalitarian dictatorship, and that is exactly what the progressive Democrats are trying to do. If Trump wasn't running, they would undoubtedly have a series of criminal charges trumped up against deSantis.
It is telling that the current democratically elected president of El Salvador, who is highly popular at home, called out what the Democrats were doing as a banana republic move right from the first whiff of it in the Mar-a-Lago raid, and has repeated that interpretation several times since. El Salvador used to be known as a banana republic, so this is a guy who knows that territory. |

Hitler's dictatorial powers were built by using executive action and bypassing the elected Reichstag. That is exactly what the Biden regime is doing. Government control of private business while leaving it in private ownership is a key element of fascist doctrine, and it is what Hitler did. Biden is on that same path which was known as "the corporate state" in the 1930s. Then there is gun control which is really people control, that was a part of Hitler's power play in the 1930s as it is in Biden's today.
If the Biden group goes racial / ethnic at all, their targets will not be the ones you mention, but will be Christian white straight males or people with one or more of those characteristics. |

America in 2023 feels like Germany in 1933 or Russia in 1917 must have felt. Our democracy is on the edge and may be about to go over completely. Biden is not bright enough to be doing this, but those pulling his puppet strings are.
