McCarthy Shreds AP Reporter Who Claimed He Launched Impeachment Inquiry ‘Without Evidence’ | Eastern North Carolina Now

    House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) put a left-wing reporter with the Associated Press on the spot during a press gaggle on Thursday after she wrote in a report that he launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden "without evidence."

    McCarthy noted that the entire point of an impeachment inquiry was to take advantage of additional investigative tools and powers so investigators could answer more questions before determining whether to impeach the president.

    "Are you concerned about all this stuff that was just recently learned?" McCarthy asked Farnoush Amiri. "Do you have any concern? Have you asked the White House any questions?"

    "Yes," she claimed.

    "Do you agree that, do you believe the president lied to the American public when he said he'd never talked to his son about business dealings?" McCarthy responded. "Yes or no? It's alright."

    Amiri said that she "can't answer that."

    "You can't answer that?" McCarthy asked. "Do you believe when they said the president went on conference calls? Do you believe that happened?"

    "That's what the testimony says, yeah," she acknowledged in reference to what Hunter Biden's business partner, Devon Archer, told Congress.

    "Do you believe the president went to Cafe Milano and had dinner with the clients of Hunter Biden, who believes he got those clients because he was selling the brand?" McCarthy asked. "Do you believe Hunter Biden, when you saw the video of him driving a Porsche that he got $143,000 to buy that Porsche the next day? Do you believe that $3 million from the Russian oligarch that was transferred to the shell companies that the Biden's controlled after the dinner from Cafe Milano took place?"

    Amiri acknowledged that all of those claims were made in official testimony given to Congress.

    "Okay, then I go back, do you think the president lied that he-?" McCarthy began to ask before she cut him off.

    "But is that an impeachable, is lying an impeachable offense?" she asked.


    "Well do you want to know? I'm not saying impeachment," he said. "All I'm saying is, I would like to know an answer to these questions. And the American public would like to know, and that's what impeachment provides."
