On February 20, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Earl Rodgers, Jessica Virgina Coffman, and Caitlyn Marie Wyatt on multiple drug charges.

    On February 20, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office arrested James Earl Rodgers, Jessica Virgina Coffman, and Caitlyn Marie Wyatt on multiple drug charges. These arrests stemmed from Deputies conducting multiple controlled purchases of cocaine from James Rodgers and conducting a search warrant on his home in Washington, NC. As a result of this investigation, Deputies seized over 15 grams of "crack cocaine," approximately one gram of heroin, and one ounce of marijuana.

    James Earl Rodgers was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond for the following charges:

    One felony count of Possession with Intent to Sale and Deliver Cocaine

    One felony count of Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep/Sell Controlled Substances

    One misdemeanor count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    Jessica Virgina Coffman was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond for the following charge:

    One misdemeanor count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    Caitlyn Marie Wyatt was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond for the following charges:

    One felony count of Possession of Cocaine

    One misdemeanor count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    This case was initiated from citizen complaints about property crimes in the area and heavy traffic to and from James Rodgers' residence.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:
