    Please see below and attached from DC Linton regarding potential weather impacts for our area tonight and tomorrow.

    Good Morning Everyone,

    Our office is monitoring a low-pressure system that will impact Eastern NC today and tomorrow. Potential hazards to include:

    Strong Winds:

  • Northerly wind gusts of 25-45 mph are expected along the coast between 6am and 5pm Friday.
  • There is a possibility for isolated trees down, and power outages.


    Coastal Impacts:

  • A King Tide is expected tonight and Friday, which could result in minor flooding of our low-lying areas.


    Heavy Rain:

  • Localized heavy rain from this evening into Friday morning, with 1.5'-2" of rainfall expected. Our heaviest rains are expected to occur between 7pm and midnight.


    Possible Tornados:

  • The timing of the possible tornados are from 10pm tonight to 7am Friday morning.

    We encourage everyone to monitor local media outlets for updates. We are also asking everyone to ensure that you, your family, friends and neighbors have a means of being alerted to watches / warnings that may be issued during the overnight hours tonight. (Options include a weather radio, push notification apps on electronic devices, etc.)

    Attached is our second full briefing for the coastal low that is expected to impact eastern North Carolina on November 14-15, 2024.

    KEY MESSAGES

    - Confidence is increasing in a multi-hazard weather event for portions of eastern North Carolina this week. Hazards will include coastal flooding (potential for rapid water level rises on the sounds), high winds, heavy rain, and a tornado or two.
