Accordinig to a wacky state law recently passed by a Democrat controlled legislature in New Jersey, parents are given a form to choose the "gender identity" and "sexual orientation" of their newborn babies. Many parents are appalled by this insanity.
In New Jersey, the woke politicians no longer seem to believe in biology. They think gender is "assigned at birth" and giving parents the power to assign any gender they want. There is even a block to choose some new weird gender not on their list. They are also asked to choose the babies "sexual orientation".
This is just another example of how Democrats no longer seem to inhavit the real world.

"Gender assigned at birth" is a term used only by profoundly ignorant people. Gender is DETERMINED at birth, not "assigned". Gender is biological and can be determined by looking at the genitals, or by testing for the chromosomes present. Indeed, it is often these days determined BEFORE brith through ultrasound. Gender dysphoria is a psychiatric disorder that can only be determined by a mental health professional but would not be present at birth.

I never did understand that gender assigned at birth phrase. So, these whackos think that woke parents actually have the right to assign the gender of their newborns, no matter their biological sex at birth, and with no regard as to what their children will eventually think about it as they grow up. This is sick as well as evil.
