Mr. Glenn Howard Bowen passed away on August 10, 2025, at his home following a short fight with cancer. His family was by his side as he transitioned to his next life.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 12, 2025, in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Gene Andrews and Ethan Coltrain. A burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Mark Allen, Jamie Boyd, Blake Bullock, Cory Cox, Scott Martin and Ray Pippin, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday August 11, 2025, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

Glenn was born in Beaufort County on February 16, 1938, son of the late James Howard Bowen and the late Lydia Gray Jackson Bowen. He grew up in the Long Acre Community and was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School. On April 27, 1961, he married the former Nelda Rae Woolard who survives. Together they lived a wonderful life filled with their family, friends, and church community in Washington. He retired from the Hampton Industries, "Sampsons Shirt Factory," in Washington where he was the sewing machine supervisor. He not only worked on the machines but also sewed and was very good at it. After retirement, you could find him in the garage "his man cave" where he worked his magic. He was very skilled with his hands and could fix a sewing machine and vacuum cleaner as well as any piece of machinery or equipment with an engine. Glenn was very talented at restoring and repairing furniture and did so for many people throughout Beaufort County. He could bring life back to old worn-out-pieces. He had a green thumb and enjoyed working in his garden and with his flowers. Hot peppers were his favorite garden vegetable, and he ate them with every meal, except breakfast. Glenn liked being part of his boy's life and would help or watch them as they worked on their cars and tractors or their building projects.

Glenn and Nelda brought up their family at Beaver Dam Church of Christ where he was a deacon. They later moved their membership to First Church of Christ where they enjoyed being part of their Sunday School class and the traditional worship service.

Surviving along with the love of his life, his wife Nelda, of the home are his sons: Michael of Washington and Jeffery (and his wife Nancy) of Washington; and his brother: Steve of Oklahoma. Glenn was brother-in-law to Linda Woolard Martin, Melitta Woolard Bullock (Ward) and Lori Tetterton (Mike). He is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews, including the newest family member Annalynn Pearl Bullock. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Loretta "Retta" Bowen, and Connie Weatherly: and his brother: Gene Bowen.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions be made to First Church of Christ, 520 East 10th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
