Far left California leads new attack on Americans' freedom of speech with new bill | Eastern NC Now

"hate speech" is an Orwellian term used by totalitarians who hate free speech

ENCNow

Free speech is under attack here in America again, and the usual suspect, the Peoples Republic of California is the culprit.  Inspired by EU efforts to suppress free speech, radical pro-censorship legislation copying their methods is working its way through the California legislature.

The legislation would require internet platforms to censor speech and impose huge fines and lawsuits on them if they do not.  It would require removal of any posts or comments that upset transgenders, homosexuals, racial groups, and others.  It is built to enforce woke political orthodoxy.  It uses the term "hate speech" a term of Orwellian Newspeak used by despicable totalitarians who hate FREE speech.  A post on a North Carolina internet site could be vulnerable, although the site and the poster had no actual connection to California.  The vagueness of what would trigger this censorship makes it particularly dangerous to freedom of speech.

One only has to look at how such laws have been used in Europe.  In France, feminist activists have been charged with "hate speech" for posting that women need their own spaces where biological males are not present.  A member of Finland's parliament was charged with hate speech for posting a Bible verse.  A German pensioner was charged for posting online that the country's flailing Minister of Economic Affairs was "an idiot".  A French senator was prosecuted for posting "immigration kills" after a brutal rape and murder of a young French girl by an illegal alien.

Maybe the best solution is just to expell the Peoples Republic of California from the United States.

I cannot believe I am saying this, but here goes: Because of President Trump and his Trumpian political values, I think California may be salvageable.

Why don't we just trade the Peoples Republic of California to Canada for Alberta and Saskatchewan. If the two Canadian provinces do not want to be part of the United States, just give California to Canada with the understanding that the U.S. will support Alberta and Saskatchewan independence. I think that would be good for all involved.

Isn't conspiring against the civil rights of Americans a federal crime, a felony? Shouldn't Democrats who conspire against our First Amendment right of free speech be indicted and jailed?

States like North Carolina should look to the solution to this problem identified by Poland's populist right Law and Justice Party. They put forward a law that allowed any Polish citizen whose posts complied with Polish law but had them removed by a major internet platform to sue that platform in Polish courts for a million euros per incident. This made censorship of Poles potentially very expensive for those major internet platforms. North Carolina could do the same for posts of North Carolinians which comply with North Carolina law, letting anyone sue those major platforms in North Carolina courts for a large amount of damages.
