Beaufort County Republican Executive Committee Chaos

BY: HOOD RICHARDSON

The Executive Committee has not met since September of 2025. Carolyn Garris scheduled a meeting for December 11th. Within a day or two of the Beaufort County Conservative Club announcing that Don Brown, a very conservative candidate for the US Senate seat being vacated by RINO (Republican In Name Only) Tillis, would be the featured speaker at the club’s December 18 meeting, Garris changed the Executive Committee meeting to the same night as the Conservative Club meeting.

Garris scheduled one meeting at the same time as the other to cause maximum inconvenience and harm to the Conservative Club and Conservative Don Brown. More than 20 members of the Executive Committee are members of the Conservative Club. The Conservative Club has a standing meeting date of the third Thursday of each month at the King Chicken Restaurant in Washington.

The Conservative Club recruits and supports “conservative” Republicans and Unaffiliated candidates for political office. The Republican Party recruits RINOs and liberal Republicans. The Republican Party supports people like Fake Frankie Waters, Randy Walker, Carolyn Walker, etc. Some of the projects of these liberal Republicans have been to close the Snowden School, consolidate Beaufort County schools, refuse to lower property taxes, etc. The Republican Party is/was a backer of the Big Cheese. The Republican Party encouraged forming the collusion with Democrats Langley and Booth to keep taxes and spending high in Beaufort County.

Garris changed the schedule for two reasons. The first is that the State Republican Party is supporting their own RINO for the Tillis seat. He is former State Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley. Whatley did a poor job as state chairman. He conducted the ill fated “vote on your cell phone” election for State Chairman. It was a disaster with people as far away as Wisconsin voting for him to be chairman. We never got verified results from that election, but Whatley declared himself to be the winner. Whatley’s damning grace, other than being a very poor leader, is that he is a Washington, DC lobbyist.

Trump has endorsed Whatley. But Trump gets a lot of bad advice. Following Trump’s endorsement, the State Republican Party got involved in the Primary Elections by favoring Whatley. This is a violation of party rules. All North Carolina organized Republican Parties, whether State, District or County are supposed to stay out of primary elections. The reason is to make the primary election process fair to all Republicans. Banana Republics use the political party to influence and swing elections. This is dishonest and allows the leadership to use rank and file money to become king makers. This is what happened to the Democrat Party. That got them Obama, Kamala and Biden. All losers.

In scheduling the Republican Executive Committee at the same time as the Conservative Club, Garris denied the Bill of Rights principle of free speech to a Republican Candidate for the US Senate. This is a big deal coming from Garris who claims to be a true Republican in every respect. Garris has not allowed transparency, the truth or Republican principles to get in the way of her RINO supporting ways since she became Beaufort County Republican Party Chairman. Her first questionable act was when she deliberately did not report the Register of Deeds vacancy to the Executive Committee so she could manipulate to secure the position for herself. Transparency is not one of her strong points.

During the past three months there have been a lot of un-Republican activities carried out by Garris, Keith Kidwell, Greg Dority, Ashley Woolard and others. They have used Republican Party funds to attack Republicans. More than $10,300 of money collected from loyal Republicans has been used to buy advertising, mail postcards and make videos attacking Republicans. This money was obtained from people who believed they were helping the Republican effort. This money was used to attack conservative Republicans whom the party leadership did not like. One disgusting example of unethical Republican behavior was when Keith Kidwell and Carolyn Garris attacked without cause or factual information a member of the School Board they did not like, Stacey Davis. Republican Stacey Davis beat 30-year school board member Democrat Mac Hodges. Garris set up Hodges’ last school board meeting so Republican Senators Tillis and Burr presented Democrat Hodges with a flag that flew over the Capital. Republican Stacey Davis got no recognition for her victory over Hodges.  But Kidwell and Garris were there hammering Davis as soon as they thought she had done something wrong. She had stopped a school bus regarding one of her children.

When the Executive Committee meeting was called to order, Garris promptly turned over control of the meeting to her partner in political crime, Keith Kidwell. This violated the rules of operation of the Executive Committee for the following reasons. Garris was elected to conduct the Executive Committee meeting by the County Convention. The rules say that if she does not conduct the meeting the Vice Chairman is to conduct the meeting. That Vice Chairman is Dianne Ahearn, a regular attendee of the monthly Conservative Club meetings. Obviously, Dianne Ahearn is conservative, and Garris did not want the many illegal activities that Garris is allowing to happen to be challenged. If Garris is not capable of conducting the meetings and answering for her political sins she should resign.

Kidwell is a candidate for the North Carolina House in this primary election. Under the party rules he is not supposed to take part in an Executive Committee activity that enhances his political standing. Kidwell ignored all of the rules and ethics that call for fair elections. Kidwell has been at Garris’ side for all of the Republican backstabbing that has taken place since September of this year. Kidwell’s opponent is Darren Armstrong. Armstrong should lodge a complaint with the North Carolina Republican Party.

Kidwell then bullied the meeting, denying any action having to do with the nonmembers Garris allowed to vote during the meeting. He failed to name who had approved the spending of the more than $10,300 dollars for the advertising attacking Republicans. According to Kidwell, the active members of the Executive Committee are posted on the party website. This is not true. The list removing members for not attending has not been updated. Both Garris and the party secretary are derelict in their duty. According to Kidwell the approval of the more than $10,300 spending was done by the so-called Victory Committee. There is no Victory Committee. The present Executive Committee has never voted to set up such a committee and by the rules of the party the Executive Committee cannot pass off their financial responsibility to approve party spending.

The question becomes:  Who is/are the people behind the green curtain making these backstabbing decisions for the Republican Party? Kidwell and Garris are carrying a lot of unethical political baggage. There are no Christian ethics, Republican ethics or common decency ethics in the Beaufort County Republican Party.

This I know to be true - there are many so-called Republicans that put personality first, rather than being accepting of the differences within others; while forsaking the party platform when it suits them to do so.

This bullet point acceptance of what it means to be a Republican, which suggest a lack of depth within those who would attempt to lead, and act as a representative of others; therefore, they, in turn, act as the RINO Whisperers that lend credence to this inarguable RINO epidemic here in Beaufort County, a condition of which that has caused Beaufort County government to long suffer under its non "Republican" /Democratic Socialist leadership, a terrible spell of wrongly doing the People's business.

People get the government they deserve, and when RINOs and RINO Whisperers are in leadership positions, the People, in essence, are being lied to, and OUR Good People need to know these truths.

Speaking of PACs: The Beaufort County Republican Party operates like a PAC instead of like a political party. Executive Committee? Just ignore them! They are a completely rogue outfit.

Kidwell votes consistently conservative in Raleigh. If you look at the out of county operatives who recruited Armstrong, he is very unlikely to do so. It is also telling that Frankie Waters tried to recruit Armstrong to run for the county commission. Think about it - would Frankie Waters try to recruit anyone who was conservative to run for anything, particularly the county commission?????? Frankie Waters is also heavily involved in Armstrong's campaign against Kidwell. What thinking conservative wants to be on the same side as Fake Frankie on anything?????

I wouldnt vote for Kidwell even if John Steed paid me!
He is a lousy representative because in reality he works only to represent his own agenda. What is that agenda? More power I imagine!
I begged for help from him and he didnt lift a finger for me. Eventually he just ghosted me. I guess I was too small to bother with.
*Just say NO to Kidwell.*

Keith Kidwell is a staunch supporter of border security and of dealing firmly with our illegal immigration problem. He is a proven friend of border security.

Jimmy Dixon is a big farmer who is soft on illegal immigration because he and his buddies hire illegal aliens. His recruit Armstrong is also a big farmer and his local support group consists of big farmers who also hire illegal aliens. I am not sure if Armstrong himself has any currently working for him but I am trying to find out. These people are NOT friends of border security. They are weak on illegal immigration. They want to keep illegal aliens working on their farms.

Replacing Kidwell with Armstrong would be an absolute disaster for border security. Armstrong would be like a junior Tillis.

Berger and Dixon constantly pander to special interests and there is little doubt that Armstrong would follow them. Too many special interests are weak on immigration issues. Tillis has been bad on immigration due to pandering to them.

Are elected officials like Garris allowed to hold office on this executive committee? This Kidwell character is allowed to bloviate past his allotted times adding little substance while bullying his way through meetings like a bull in a china shop!
It’s time for him to go like Tillis or better yet just change your party affiliation from RINO to democRAT.
Anyone dissenting or questioning, especially Richardson appears to be ignored and stifled in their objections to seemingly parliamentary misdemeanors that are in fact serious transgressions of board etiquette.
Additionally, your committee leader Garris along with ex-officio member Kidwell appear to be attempting to ignore and burry a serious lawsuit. My recommendation is that real
Republicans resign and disown this organization if serious changes are not made especially before their liability is brought the court through this lawsuit.

Darren Armstrong was recruited by ultra-RINO Jimmy Dixon of Duplin County on behalf of liberal RINO senate boss Phil Berger. Dixon is the liberal anti-gun legislator who blocked key gun rights legislation in this legislative session. Berger has been responsible for a long list of liberal legislation from letting men into womens restrooms to the NC Green New Deal to the Obamacare Medicaid expansion to trying to put out NC shrimpers out of business to trying to spread casinos across the state. Anyone who would align with Dixon and Berger is NO CONSERVATIVE. Armstrong also has a history of a big time Marc Basnight Democrat when he lived in Hyde County.

Both Dixon and Berger have sold their souls to the special interests. Dixon is a farmer himself but in this legislative session tried to screw farmers two ways. He tried to put raw milk farmers completely out of business. He also tried to protect a big out of state chemical company which put chemicals they knew caused cancer into farm chemicals from being sued by NC farmers who got cancer from those chemicals. Dixon was willing to stab his own people in the back to play up to the special interests. Beaufort County does NOT need our own version of Jimmy Dixon in the legislature.

I agree w Befuddled.
Three more years of Trump is not going to save this country nor Beaufort County. If a Dem gets elected to the WH just bend over and kiss your cherished liberty goodbye.
I watched a video of an English woman in England say:
"This is the beginning of the end. There is no going back for us."
That may be true for the USA as well.

All I can do is vote the scroundrels out...and that begins with Kidwell. I'm voting for Darrin Armstrong who I understand has a home in Belhaven. I wouldn't vote for Kidwell, even if he were the only GOPer on the ballot. His contempt for the people he is supposed to
represent is obvious. Good Riddance!
