    Mr. Lynwood Sylvester Kirk, age 71, a resident of the Belhaven and Pamlico Beach Community died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Washington, NC.

    A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Wades Point Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Rev. Kenneth Dixon. Burial will follow at the Pamlico Beach Community Cemetery at Ryder Hill. Mark Braddy, Carlton Cornelius, Dean Fulford, Jr., Anthony Waters, Kevin Boggs, Fred Mangold and Ray Tinker will serve as pallbearers. Clyde Kirk will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

    Mr. Kirk was born in Beaufort County on June 9, 1942, to the late James Sylvester Kirk and Lelia Nell Braddy. On July 5, 1960, Mr. Kirk married the late Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Foster Kirk, who preceded him in death on June 24, 2009. Mr. Kirk worked as a commercial fisherman and did some welding. He was a member of the Wades Point Pentecostal Holiness Church.

    Mr. Kirk was a humble man of God who loved Jesus with all his heart. He was talented by ear musically and his family loved hearing him play the guitar and piano.

    Mr. Kirk is survived by four daughters, Amy Tinker and husband Ray of Belhaven, NC, Beverly Waters and husband Anthony of Pinetown, NC, Adina Boggs and husband Kevin of Missoula, MT, Janel Mangold and husband Fred of Greenville, NC, a son, Lennie Kirk of California, two sisters, Betty Brooks and husband Fred of Greenville, NC and Dale Jacobs of Waycross, GA, and twelve grandchildren.

    In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Kirk is preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

    The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 3, 2013, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the service hour and other times at the home of Mr. Kirk's daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Anthony Waters, 773 Jones Bridge Road, Pinetown, NC.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lynwood Kirk Memorial Fund, Post Office Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889.
