ObamaCare is working just the way O intended and Hagan has been duped and has yet to realize it | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's Note: This article originally appeared in the Beaufort Observer.

What if, ObamaCare is but a prelude to a total system collapse?

Week before last, President Obama tried to spin his way out of his 29 statements over two years that "if you like your plan you can keep it. Period. If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor. Period."

Last week he apologized to....Americans "who are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me..." Click here to listen to his actual words. You might should bookmark it or download it because that too is likely to be parsed in the days to come.

Note his words. He did not apologize for ObamaCare being a disaster or for his and his administration's incompetence in the rollout. He did not apologize for the lies he told. He just said he was sorry so many people are in a fix.

As would be expected, the immediate response of the Inside the Beltway Elites was to say: "Well, we've just got to fix the problems." Even North Carolina's own --resident nitwit, Kay Hagan - who once bragged about being one of the authors of ObamaCare - announced that she supported a bill that would "allow people to keep their insurance plans" if they wanted to. So how long do you think that one will last? Never mind all the other problems with ObamaCare.

In spite of these charades, nobody we know is really expecting Obama to fix the ObamaCare debacle. And they are entirely correct. It is a mess and it will continue to be a mess as long as the government tries to "fix" health care.

We agree with Rush Limbaugh on this point: Obama never intended for ObamaCare to work smoothly, or even at all. He wants yet another "crisis" that "demands" more government control as the solution to the crisis. Limbaugh contends that the failure of ObamaCare was and is intentional, purely as a justification for the government imposing a socialistic health care system. Expect "single payer" to be the fix that Obama trots out at some point to fix the debacle he created. That will come after he blames everyone else but himself, but there will be some "monster under the bed" that he campaigns against.

Over the next several months, filter everything you read/hear about ObamaCare through this filter: The objective is to abolish the American health care system and in its place install a communistic (note the lower case "c") system in its place. By communistic we mean "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" as determined and controlled by the government. If private insurance companies do continue to exist they will be nothing more than premium collection agencies for the government. The government, if Democrats and Obama/Hillary have their way, will own/control everything about the delivery of health care. They think.

So the objective is not to make ObamaCare succeed. It is to use ObamaCare to show why government-controlled health care must "save" the system.

But we'll make this prediction. It will not work.

Instead there will be three health care systems for Americans. One will be the one for poor folks, such as those now on Medicaid. The second system will be ObamaCare, with Americans paying more for health care than they ever have, and they will get less. The third will be a black market system for those who will not participate in the first two systems. We expect most of the participants in the third system to be very wealthy, or very desperate, Americans who will find a way to get the care they feel they need without going to the government system to get it. They may even have to go outside the country to get it if the government tries to outlaw it by forcing them into ObamaCare, but there will be a "private" health care system.

As a footnote to this, we would mention that we find it amazing that Obama thinks he can exclude himself from the failure of ObamaCare. He is the President and he is responsible for whether it works or not. The same is true for Hagan. Hagan seems to think the solution is sending out memos. She sent out a newsletter talking about how the backlog of veterans' applications for benefits from the VA have been backlogged for four years. She offered that just recently she wrote a letter and got some action, but even she acknowledged that the problem has yet to be solved. But she has been in office while all this debacle in the VA was taking place and now she tries to position herself as not only being immune but trying to take credit for a band-aid fix.

Both Hagan and Obama must really believe that we are stupid. But we've got news for them. The people can see what's going on, and we will help them do so. It is time for both Obama and Hagan to get the job done or get out of Dodge.

Click here to listen to Obama explain where he wants to go--i.e., a "single payer" system. A single payer system is government run and government controlled health care.

We recognize that there are those who believe, and we might say with considerable justification, that the real objective is to collapse the entire system. Click here to watch a video that explains that school of thought.

    A lesson on penance

The Elite Media, ever dutiful to carry Obama's water for him, reported his apology, but failed to explain in reporting his "apology" that his is the most superficial of apologies. This is actually better characterized by the word "regret." That is like a parent saying to a child who lost his candy, "I'm sorry." But the parent has no intention of actually doing anything to restore the lost candy to the child.

Apologies such as the one Obama uttered are superficial because they do not include the acceptance of responsibility. They do not begin with "I have sinned." In the Catholic Church a sinner goes to confession. He begins by confessing his sin to the priest. The priest, as an agent of God, then absolves the sinner of his sin and assurance him/her that God has forgiven him/her because of Christ's intercession. Thus, an essential element of penance is to confess your shortcomings and a willingness to try to do better in the future. Indeed penance is often accompanied by specific acts of penance, such as prayer, fasting and alms. If a person has indeed repented for his sins it is presumed that he will do something to symbolize his penance for his failure.

We see no such penance in Obama's apologies, either this one or the many others he has issued. They are like someone bumping into you at Wal-Mart and saying "Sorry." You know they may be sincere but the depth of their sincerity is not very deep. So it means little more than the hot air it took to say it.

We should all seek to withhold judgment of others. "Let he is without sin cast the first stone." But if someone--the media--is going to extol another's virtue because they have apologized they also bear the responsibility of telling the "whole story" and that would include the person's penance. We see no penance from Obama in the Elite Media reporting of his "apology."

We would suggest that the Elite Media used the wrong word in reporting what Obama did. They should have reported that he offered his "regrets" and that he misspoke when he said "I'm sorry."

Sorry if we stepped on anyone's toes, Hagan's included. We apologize to Sen. Hagan if she found herself offended by us characterizing her as a nitwit. Our apology is just as sincere as Obama's was.
