Jerry Langley and Barack Obama  -  Peas out of the same pod | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's Note: This article originally appeared in the Beaufort Observer.

There are very few pure coincidences in this world. Experience has shown that if one digs deep enough into those things that look like they could be related one will almost always find a connection. Connecting the dots often shows the picture. Sean Hannity, the popular television show on Fox News, recently hammered home the reason Obama lied so repeatedly and skillfully abut benefits of The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obama Care. He said it was because the truth would have tanked Obama Care in a heart beat. It was no coincidence that all those Congressmen voted for the act. Nancy Pelosi inadvertently let the cat out of the bag when she admonished elected officials to vote for it, you read it later. That coincidental statement is the telling proof we need to show how corrupt this legislation is. Now those fools who took her advice and voted for Obama Care have a 2014 problem in getting re-elected. It will be hard to vote for someone who is guilty of allowing Obama to either lie to them or for them. We expect better of our politicians. Yes, we know they all lie but this takes the cake, we cannot forgive this.

Jerry Langley, another liberal Beaufort County Commissioner, has used Obama's play book well. He, along with Democrats Ed Booth, Robert Belcher and the exalted RINO (Republican In Name Only) Al Klemm used Obama's play book to dictate the false need for a new jail in Beaufort County. (Never let a good crisis go to waste, and if you need to, create the crisis.) Socialistic health care is a lot like building palaces for jail birds. The public is not into putting these people in new hotel like facilities just like the majority of the public is not for paying someone else's medical bills.

Actually a new jail is a harder sell than socialized medicine. Just about everyone is sympathetic toward the sick. Those who are in jail are accused of having done some serious crimes against the public or are unable to pay for an appearance bond. Not exactly the kind of people you want renting your garage apartment. Because jails serve a local community almost everyone voting to build accused criminals a plush place to live knows enough to be unsympathetic.

The same kind of thinking applies to medical care. If the public knew they would have existing policies cancelled, the price of their new policy would be based on their total health condition (that is one of the things what made the rates go up), they would have a government mandated level of care, and when they get old there would be less or no care, no one would vote for it. Obama had to lie to make this turkey fly. On top of all of this the main beneficiaries are people who would not or could not ever pay their own way. Trying to divide the cost between those who can pay and those who cannot pay is socialism.

There is no doubt about it, lying really works especially for politicians who are worried about getting re elected. Like Obama. Or Kay Hagan. Lying also is a convenience when politicians' public image is at stake, Lying is very good support for politicians' ego trips.. Of course there are a few other character flaws that help those dummies who voted for both Obama Care and the Jail. Not being entirely honest, not understanding their fiduciary responsibility, not caring enough to ask questions are some of these character flaws. Then there is the basic genetic things that help us all succeed like intelligence. Finally we come to not being truly Christian. No person who is truly Christian would ever have voted for Obama Care or the jail.

Both Socialized Medicine and the new jail in Beaufort County would never have been approved by the voters if they had been given the opportunity to root out the truth. So these elected officials made the decision in secret for us. .In both cases our, now distrusted elected representatives sold us down the river. As the facts come to light it is disgusting in both cases how our leadership lies to us with straight faces.

Three Commissioners, Deatherage, Brinn and Richardson, have shown over and over that the decision making process to build the jail was never exposed to the public, alternatives were never examined, and the Gang of Four, Langley, Belcher, Booth and Klemm, are clue less as to how much the capital and operating costs will be. They, like Obama, sat in a back room and decided to spend our money on things that will ultimately hurt us.

Obama Care will do one of two things, bankrupt us if decent care is provided or deny us medical care. The new jail to be built at Chocowinity will certainly help destroy the downtown of the City of Washington and raise our taxes at least 15 percent. It will cost us hundreds of jobs as over two million dollars a year is sucked out of our local economy and sent elsewhere.

Taxes are already oppressive at the County, State and Federal levels.

Beaufort County taxes continue to go up under a sleight of hand system called growth. That is property taxes collected from new construction and increases in sales tax are never credited against property taxes levied. There are very few years that these taxes do not increase. That is one of the secret gimmick to increasing spending, without tax payer knowledge, in county government. Why not reduce property taxes as sales and new construction taxes increase?

And never forget, we all pay property taxes, whether we own property or not. The cost of the taxes is passed on to tenants, customers and those who buy goods and services.

Our new Republican controlled Legislature and Governor lost their courage at the last minute during the long session. They had a good tax reform plan. But the governor wanted to make sure he had enough money to pacify the liberals, so the Republicans backed down. They did a disservice to those of us who pay taxes.

Once the lie is out to the public, all of the liars are well aware that the entire issue falls on them if the lie is admitted. Notice, I did not say discovered, I said admitted. Those who do not make deception a practice must keep in mind that those who use deception are comfortable with their lie or they would never have told it to the public. Lying is only abhorrent to those who do not practice deception.

These adults using deception on the political front have successfully used deception before. They are very much aware that they will probably get caught but will rarely be called upon to defend their deception. Obama was harder pressed publicly for an explanation than Langley and the Gang of Four. Obama chose another form of lie as his defense. He could not admit that he lied. So he apologized for the hardship his lies caused. Langley and the Gang of Four will probably never have to explain why they decided to build a jail when there is no need. They chose another form of deception. They ignored the question.

We'll will spare the reader a long discussion on the philosophy of lying. However, the generally accepted definition of an "official lie is that it misleads deliberately conveying a false impression". Then there is the lie detector which only detects fear, not lies. The principle behind the lie detector is that we all have a "Christian conscience" and know that lying is a sin. Not so, there are plenty of Christians who are comfortable with lying.

As the Nation, State and County drifts away from the Constitutional principles our democracy is based on and into Socialism we need to conscientiously throw off the yoke of the big lie of socialism and also those elected officials who assume we have morally degenerated to the point that we trust them to lie both to and for us. Yes, this statement is somewhat of an oxymoron but there is more truth than lie in it.

We know Obama Care will either destroy us financially or our ability to have good medical care. The new jail is going to place a harsh burden on all taxpayers in Beaufort County for the next twenty years and cost jobs and suppress economic growth and development. Property taxes are oppressive in this very depressed economy. The jail will increase those taxes 15 percent and make a major contribution to the destruction of downtown Washington. We can house surplus prisoners in Pitt County for four hundred thousand dollars each year. Why do we need to spend four million dollars each year in increased costs for a new jail?

Dare we stand by and allow those (elected officials) who are supposed to be the mirror image of our very soul violate even this one of the Ten Commandments. Does not the Old Testament give us the prophecy for our sins of omission?
