Comments for A Carpetbagger & Scalawag from Georgia Makes an Apology

People of the south should be used to interlopers from outside the area coming in and agitating the locals without bothering to find out how they live and what they think.

In this age of everyone having an excuse for their actions, somehow the words fit together, as in "They can't help it, they are just plain Deplorable Crackers."

Kinda has a ring to it.

I dig the the term. It is just a word of many meanings

I now have a new term that I dig just as much, which has meaning, and Lord knows, there muddle-brained Liberals who would label me as such - a "Deplorable".

I will wear that name proudly. I may have to dust off my article about watching the minor league team Atlanta Crackers from the railroad tracks in right field.

CRACKER it is.

The term Cracker comes from the cowboys of panhandle Florida, who cracked a bullwhip to get the attention of the steers.

I used to know which, but now I guess I get to choose which I identify with. I'm guessing CRACKER!

It is a good post, especially from such a Georgia Peach ... or is it Cracker?

A boy's fascination with trains, planes and cars tends to prove that Thomas Wolfe was wrong. I spent many hours in the viaducts of Atlanta wandering around the Underground before it became a tourist attraction. In the fifties you could stand at the end of the Atlanta Airport runways and watch the planes come and go with only a chain link fence between you and the touchdown. Later it was a great place to park with a date and dream of other destinations.

If I ever get lost again, and can't find my home, I pray I will at least find this video to get my bearings back home.
