Comments for Beaufort County Budget, Increased Spending

More of the same: bigger budget, increased spending and no tax reduction

Washingtonian: The shit is rolling downhill and fast, ain't it? This is just one of many instances but, as seen in Martin County last week, parents are getting extremely pissed off about school consolidation. While the Martin County School board openly admitted to students leaving their mainstream public schools in droves, they "forgot" to mention the influx of students being enrolled in BGCS...the competition. I see a pattern here.

Though Beaufort County has yet to openly admit what most already know: we are becoming a Sanctuary School System which is why students are going elsewhere outside of the County. Washington Montessori isn't keeping people here either. Bath Elementary and Chocowinity Primary are the only bastions of hope left BUT they can't hold out forever....unless they think ahead.

Forcing everyone into the Cities so the Countryside can be "developed" and pillaged isn't going to go over well. BOCO is being setup for Carpetbaggers and hook-noses...

I see a pattern

Bubba, not 4...5!
Tandy Dunn voted to hire the part-time city manager, tho this time, Booth didnt.

Our elected officials, are members of the bureaucratic machine.
You know this when u see an employee talking smack to a sitting Commissioner (Hood).

A part time county manager paid MORE than a US Senator is absurd. Four of our county commissioners are spendthrifts.

Don’t worry. Just look at the super brilliance that we have on our City, County and School boards. We can count on higher taxes, more misplaced spending, Schools that are turning out students that cannot sign their name, read a ruler and rate 30% at reading level and a hospital that does not do MRI’s on Saturday (Don’t have an accident on the weekend) and you can lie in the hall for up to 8 hours to see a doctor or get a bed (I did). While 18 miles away there is a town that is running over with industry and growth. We should be the bedroom community for Greenville if we had a school system. And what happened to the 30-mil spent at the airport to make us the Drone Development center for the East Coast? Guess I’m getting too old to keep up with all this stuff.

Stan politely says the voters are uninformed, I think if he werent being polite, he would have said stupid.
Well, I've noted that those we elect come from the voter list, and they sure are stupid.
For example Tandy Dunn, voted with the Dems to hire our new part-time county manager.
Is that really the best we can do? And do we really have to pay them more than a Senator or a State Attorney General???
And was that really a county employee talking shit to Commissioner Hood at this recent commissioners meeting?
We need a Purge!

Here's another one/ The Attorney General of North Carolina is paid $168K. Should we pay a Beaufort County manager tens of thousands of dollars MORE than that? The AG has to have a LAW degree which is a higher degree than a pathetic Masters of Public administration.

No CT, I dont think so. I think the intent by "they" is to roll up the sidewalks and shut down life here. They gave us a part time manager.

There are NO Primary Care doctors. Only walk-in clinics. Why would anyone want to live here? I asked a local nurse about possible doctors (she knows I live in Washington). Her reply was she thinks there is a doctor in Belhaven that might still be taking patients. I said it would be easier to go to Greenville.
So... HEY County Commissioners I'd say this is a major problem preventing growth locally. What are yu going to do about THAT!!

This dude will make more than a US Senator ($178K) and almost as much as the NC Governor ($203K). Is a county manager in little ole Beaufort County worth that much??

Continued from facebook post . pt 2.
"One business is an engineering company, focusing on structural building, plumbing and mechanical work. The business was started in 2006.
He also has a pinball machine venture were he buys, restores and resells machines.
He said the county commissioners and citizens of Beaufort County will have to trust him that he will make the Beaufort County manager’s position his priority.
The new county manager’s base pay will be $200,000 annually.
With his county paycheck and his other side enterprises, hopefully he will invest in a Bill’s Hot Dog or Mom’s Cheese Biscuit for lunch and breakfast every now and then,
Commissioner Booth."

Thank you Mr. Booth!

Tim Corley was hired to be the new county manager of Beaufort County. The commissioners voted 4 to 3 to hire Corley, a former deputy county manager in neighboring Pitt County.
Corley starts June 1, 2026.
The three commissioners that voted against Corley were Hood Richardson, Stan Deatherage and Ed Booth.
The opposing commissioners had no issues with the new hire’s qualifications but had an issue with Corley’s insistence he would remain living in Pitt County and not move to Beaufort County.
Corley said his travel time to his job was probably closer than the commissioners who had an issue with his living arrangement.
Booth questioned Corley’s investment in Beaufort County. Referencing it may be as little as occasionally buying his lunch in the county.
Corley also said he operates other businesses he was goin to hang on to because of the income it brings in and he wasn’t going to give up the lifestyle the money helped provide.

Copied from Facebook post, I will continue in post 2.

Drug dealers should get the death penalty, because they r murderers of our children, whole families, whole neighborhoods,& all hope. Some liberals try to argue that it is a victimless crime. They argue tht th drug user chooses to buy drugs of hs own accord. Well let me tell u Commissioners, th drug dealers operate just like advertisers on TV. They PUSH their product on the mentally damaged users. Yep, they dont wait for the user to call for th drug, they will actually market to th user. They call & say to th addict using their best salesman's voice: Hey man I've got some Good stuff! You'll like it, its GOOD! I'll even give u a taste 4 free because I'm yur friend. Call me b4 its all gone. Or, they will act to get an naive person addicted by givin them free hits until he's fully addicted. So its in this way that it is NOT a victimless crime. That's why they call them drug-pusher. Wake up Chairman Waters! We all know that regardless, th accused always seem to get a plea deal, as Hood sd.
