Comments for A Critical Look at the Commissioners Race

Only one proven conservative is running...Stan Deatherage.

Buzz, I agree to a point; however, those of us qualified folk, who have served for so long and well have suffered much economic damage and disdain from those RINOs, and Leftists that are a growing part of the electorate in this self governed society of Beaufort County.

Those of us that have the courage to serve honorably and well need to politically know these "many qualified people are reluctant to expose themselves or their families to the mudslinging and hostility that define today’s political climate," and that they show the courage to present themselves, and get deeply involved with Conservatives and Conservative issues before they should get my, and our support.

I worked 3 years for Republican party candidates before I ever ran for office, and I ran for office for all the right reasons. I want to see some of that diligence, before I commit to anyone going forward.

This is the way I see it going from here on out.

One of our major problems is finding people that have common sense, management ability and integrity. Many qualified people are reluctant to expose themselves or their families to the mudslinging and hostility that define today’s political climate. We need to find some of these qualified people and let them know we are behind them and need their help. There are more elections coming up. We need to find good candidates. We need better choices when we go to the polls. “Change the method, change the results”.

JV, What we have here is a shadow Govt. It prevails everywhere these day. I could give the same answer to VanZant abt his comments on the local GOP and VictoryCommittee. My query is who has taught these local officials that its ok to disrespect the public, to ignore our needs? I say it is bigger than just Garris, or the school board, etc. I say it is a sickness, an indoctrination over USA institutions. Every thing is being infiltrated and destroyed from within. I could just say the left. But we need to find the culprits. Just as the DOJ was corrupted from within and went after Trump under Biden, there are agencies within NC that have been infiltrated and are then spewing out malice and dishonest policies for governing. Propaganda. People have a weakness for it.
We have to quit simply trusting that a person with a title wouldnt lie to us. They do. Everyday. They circle the wagons w mumbo jumbo and then go silent on us... or lie. People w titles do LIE to you.

Washingtonian: I want the public to know that what is being discussed can be validated by public web search and critical thinking.

Topic 1; Students and Parents leaving Beaufort County/BCS.

I know parents, who live in HWY 92/Hunters Bridge area, who've expressed concern about their community schools hypothetically being closed and their children forced to the Metropolis Elementary on the North side of the river

The BCS student withdrawal rate is an issue that Commissioner Deatherage brought up some months back and Commissioner "Mr" Randy Walker appeared to deflect with "stupid" but, after several playbacks, I think he was actually reinforcing what Unca Stan brought up: "Houston, we have a problem. Please advise."

If the schools are screwed up, it can and will affect the price of real estate within the school district. If young'uns ain't going there, somebody ain't getting as much gubment money due to specific demographics leaving the area.

This ain't rocket science..yes or no?

JV, you wrote:
"Let's open public discussion and talk about real shit here, folks."

OK, I'll play. Which "real shit" do you want to open discussion with?
Let the sun shine on it all!

John Valley: I disparage over the fact that far too many junior politicians in Beaufort County believe they are untouchable as neophytes, when the big picture is never considered by them and their fellow patterned players played poorly.

That is why Beaufort County is not doing better on so many levels, while petty political wannabes play petty games, which, in the end, hurts others, and, of course, they believe themselves to be UNTOUCHABLE.

SD: We disagree on some issues BUT we agree on two major things: "Stupid" and bizarroworld. The Beaufort County GOP is in the same shape as the national GOP; They've f-ed up, they KNOW they've f-ed up and, now, are trying to distance themselves from recent shenaniganry..mostly due to shit they've previously ignored from the people.

Both Trump and the GOP know that they don't have the support they had in nearly 2015-2016. Those voters, who are now closer to 40 than 30, have long since told everyone in politics to "go to hell" and have a good idea about how shit really goes down; they tell it like it is without bias or use of bizarrotalk.

All that is wanted by the core group of those seemingly holding a substantial amount of potential "number power" in the midterm: "The shit's f-ed and we want the public to know how f-ed up it is. Let's open public discussion and talk about real shit here, folks."

Under this system, voters have a MUCH harder time in holding politicians feet to the fire.
Commented: Thursday, October 8th, 2026 @ 2:31 pm By: John Steed
So, under this system, less extreme candidates have a more difficult time?
Commented: Thursday, October 8th, 2026 @ 1:15 pm By: big Bob
John Steed you are right: If Limited Voting was gone, I definitely would have a much easier time of it. I could form far different strategies to elect and form a coalition for a real conservative government a far better Republican government.
Commented: Thursday, October 8th, 2026 @ 9:33 am By: Stan Deatherage
Bob, under "limited voting" we only get one vote for three seats. Under that distorted system, voters CANNOT vote out their political opponents. That makes county government unaccountable and unresponsive.
Commented: Thursday, October 8th, 2026 @ 9:16 am By: John Steed
The people of BC can vote out your political opponents.

Van Zant: This is NOT the first time the RINOs and RINO Whisperers of the Beaufort County GOP have worked to take me out in an election.

They were successful in the 2014 primary; but, I was not aware then of their nefarious deceits. I am aware now, and I have been aware even before I filed for re-election for this 2026 General Election.

My continual work against the RINO commissioners they support, those members of the Center-Left /Left Coalition, those that swap votes to share power here in Beaufort County, has put a big bullseye on my broad back, where the Beaufort County GOP's RINOs and RINO Whisperers have continued firing their petty darts.

If I lose this election, it will be on their stupid little heads, and there is one thing I despise in politics /governing, and that what rings, and blares Stupid.

This I promise: I will not rest until we wring the RINOs and RINO Whisperers out of the Beaufort County GOP. We must replace them with Conservative Republicans who are real, real as people, real as Republicans.

Bob, the people - the voters - of Beaufort County have never supported limited voting, When it became public that the Democrat commissioners had proposed and agreed to this in a backroom deal, there was a huge public furor against it, It was so strong that the commissioners tried to undo what they had done, but the court would not let them out of it. The public has hated it from the very beginning. You are clearly not from Beaufort County or you would understand these things.

Stan: As you well know, you are you and I am me. You. Me. Two separate individual people.

Those local GOP squawkers lack perception in this as well as many other things. If they would stop attacking my friends and keep their grubby hands out of my pocketbook I would leave them alone.

Like Ronnie said, "Southern Man don't need [them] around anyhow." and "All I can do is write about it."

The local GOP has an ad on the radio now using the chairperson's voice. In this one she mentions the sheriff race, the congressional race and two local judge candidates. Meanwhile, the local GOP is using a Facebook and shadowy whisper campaign against general election conservative Republicans, specifically in the county commission race. Their agenda is not aboveboard and is not party oriented. In a general election a party should be pushing the vote for their party's candidates as a whole. These wayward party leaders seem to dislike conservative Republicans more than they dislike Democrats.

My take on many of these people running amuck in the local Party is that they really seem to lack maturity, but even worse is their total disconnection from basic ethics. Some of them are just plain mean. Barring a miracle at the next convention there is a very good chance this bunch has absolutely destroyed the local GOP.

I'm going to keep on voting for conservatives no matter what happens with this stupid party stuff.

Translation - people will support this election system, until they don't. It's really not a conspiracy.
Commented: Tuesday, October 6th, 2026 @ 1:56 pm By: big Bob
"Limited voting" is the election system for the county, not the city. It was imposed on the county by an all Democrat board of commissioners as part of a settlement in a lawsuit, The citizens had nothing to do with its establishment. "Limited voting" is the same system that the Communist Chinese proposed for Hong Kong in their negotiations with the British for the handover, and the British rejected as totally undemocratic. We are stuck with the same totally undemocratic system here.

So the whole town is Marxist. Washington NC. Really?
Commented: Monday, October 5th, 2026 @ 3:03 pm By: big Bob
Bob, only a Marxist would appreciate the absurd "limited voting" process for electing county commissioners in Beaufort County. Deatherage is the commissioner working to get us back to a normal voting system.

Thanks Van Zant - And additionally, to make your point: One of the lowest of the Fake Republicans, a longtime RINO stalwart of the Beaufort County GOP is accusing you of being me; or maybe me of being you on Fakebook, and I have to state this question, how can that be?

When writing on the fly fast, but in complete sentences, you write a whole lot better than I do. And this being my most developed platform in my SNI galaxy of platforms, I well appreciate your truth and your wise words.

Plus, I will always be a big fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Stan and CV: You've made good points. What irony. The RINO GOPers say - quote - "We have 5 Republicans on the county commission, yet can't cut wasteful spending and taxes, so how effective has Deatherage been all these years?" How in hell do they have the gall to say that while they prop up RINO commissioners like Fake Frankie and Phony Randy? Their boys don't help us at all on those issues, so they blame the ones that DO support taxpayers on tax and spend issues. How convoluted is that? Don't listen to the BS. Stan Deatherage has a conservative record that anyone can check.

Strangely, I've heard Ashley Woolard say things along that line too. He may want to elaborate on that a bit, because it really takes him out of consideration by tuned in conservatives that don't appreciate the bull crap. Otherwise, he talks a conservative game, but he does lose credibility when he supports such illogical statements.

Edwards may be a nice guy, but he is hedging on these type issues entirely. That and being recruited and backed by Fake Frankie are red flags galore for conservatives.

Booth is a nice guy. He's also a Democrat Socialist. And he did NOT support the Richland Township community after promising them he would.

This is an easy choice for me and my family.

I urge voters to consider:
Is a commissioner always, right? On everything.
Does a commissioner respect the election process regardless of the outcome?

Politics aside, if you can't answer no, and yes, about a candidate, then the candidate does not deserve your vote.

It's an incredibly low bar but I suspect sone will have a hard time clearing it.
Commented: Friday, October 2nd, 2026 @ 3:34 pm By: big Bob
Van Zant. You have hit the nail on the head on the county commission race. We have two seats to fill, however, and only one vote with this Chinese voting system, so getting the best two in may be problematic. My family with our one vote will be voting Deatherage.

What is important is where a candidate stands on important policy issues like taxes and spending, not their background in what has become an internal local GOP organization circus.
Edwards refusal to make commitments on issues after making a comment that sounds conservative reminds me of the worst establishment hacks we have seen in the party from the national to th local level. He is pulling the wool over our eyes. Having been "vetted" by Frankie Waters before he filed tells you all you need to know about him.
